I work at home and we have a nanny share here. I work at a desk in my bedroom with the door closed. Not 100% ideal but it works for us.

@Vegmama: I wah & have an in-home caregiver from April-August. Chloe is in preschool now, but before she was enrolled we had someone here year round.

I've blogged about our decision to hire aomeone & my routine as a WAHM with in-home childcare.

My studio has doors and I always work with music on, but I still get distracted when Chloe is being loud!

I was on the other end before (the nanny) and it was really hard when the mom was around/in site to care for the kids and keep them from not wanting her etc. Maybe it won't be so bad while your LO is younger but once that separation anxiety phase hits it may get difficult. It sounds like you have a great nanny lined up though :)

Hey mamas ... Do any of you work at home AND have a nanny or in-home childcare?

I'm a designer (home studio), and I know that I will need some help once I'm back after my maternity leave. I am initially thinking about someone coming in 3 days a week for 5 hours or so. I think I can adjust my workload accordingly.

My question involves logistics ... I don't have an office with doors that close (we have a bungalow, and my office is in a room next to the living room). Basically, I would be really distracted by baby/nanny the whole time.

Soooo ... what do you do? Find a room with a door? Work somewhere else? Just work with baby/nanny around? Does it actually work out (do you get work done)? I'm open to any pointers or advice!!

Oh, and we have a person in mind. She's shown interest in child care + light housekeeping (thank goodness), so as far as the person, I think I'm set on that piece of the puzzle.

THANK YOU!
