@codeitall: We have a treadmill and weight set up in our basement. I do the intermediate plan from the Jack Daniels Running Method book, and started lifting twice a week as well in November using work outs from the new rules of lifting which is also a book. I really like to understand the why so that I can adjust as needed, which is why I like books. It means I have flexibility to make things easier or harder as I feel up to it.

I have seen a lot of changes since adding the weights, but DH already had most of what I’m using so idk what the investment is like, but it can’t be that bad. I’m also lifting heavy loads, but haven’t gotten bulky, so don’t worry about casual weights turning you into a bodybuilder because that’s not how it works.

One thing I’ve found that I love—if I have to run on the treadmill I watch planet earth or another similar show, it’s just so zen and doesn’t really require sound to be engaging.

I don’t like to pay for things but I love the 7 minute workout for women app!

It is free, there are a variety of workouts and I just combine a couple or do a longer one two days a week.

Then I run 2-3.5 miles four days a week with the dog and take one day off. We live right next to a trail so it is really easy to get out and run.

I do 6 days of short workouts and it helps me stay on track. Plus the fact that they are short means everything is over fast!

@crazydoglady: yes, definitely! Lots of improvement in strength and she focuses a lot on pelvic floor, and mine is so much better when I do MS regularly. I also like some of her 5 minute hacks for when I can't for a full workout in.

Another vote for fitness blender. I used to use theirs and need to get back to it. Their workouts are free and their programs are cheap. Their calendar helps track what workouts you've done.

I also do Beachbody on Demand. There are so many different programs and you don't need a ton of equipment. We have a set of free weights (5lbs - 50lbs but I only ever need up to 20lbs) and bands. I would never be workout if I had to go to the gym - I just turn on a workout video as soon as my daughter goes to bed and then I'm done 30-45 minutes later.

I do yoga videos at home after my kid is in bed. I love Yoga with Adriene - most of her videos are around 20-30 minutes. It feels good to fit in a little something even if I have limited time.

@codeitall: I'm about 30 days into working out at home (this time around). We have a setup in our garage that includes a TV and Chrome cast, rowing machine, dumbbells, pull up bar, rings, and a mat. We put the setup together when we first moved in and LO1 was a baby (6 years ago). We recently unearthed it thanks to Marie Kondo.

I have been using Fitness Blender's workouts and I've noticed a difference. I'm working out after the kids go to bed. I would prefer the morning but I have early risers and they'll get out of bed if my foot touches the floor.

I also have a great gym through work but I can't figure out the timing with drop off and pick up.

I recently started ClassPass Live (at home streaming service) and I really like it. It's group fitness classes (HIIT, barre, strength, etc.) and most last around 30 minutes but there are several express options. It comes with Google Chromecast so you stream it from your phone onto your tv and it also comes with a heart rate monitor and has a leaderboard just like Peloton. I'm not a super competitive person but the leaderboard is really motivating. I've really liked the classes and I love that I can get a pretty tough workout in 30 minutes in my basement.

I really like the Beachbody on demand programs (not a coach, for the record). Plus they are affordable! And many of them are quick (20-40 min)

Yes, check out FitnessBlender.com! Free workouts and you don't need a lot of (or technically any) equipment. I have a couple pairs of dumbbells that I use, but there are all sorts of workouts, and many are just bodyweight.

@codeitall: I work out at home almost exclusively and love the flexibility of schedule! We have a few sets of dumbbells, a TRX, a barbell, and a kettlebell. I live in northern CA so I can work out outside year round. We have a covered carport in our driveway and I set up a light so I can get out there no matter the time (I usually wake at 5:30am on work days to work out before my kids are up). I have an extensive library of workouts saved on pinterest, and occasionally buy fitness plans from the many fitness bloggers I follow. There's an incredible library of options on youtube and Amazon and Netflix that can keep you on track and follow along if classes are more your thing than self-guided workouts. The amazing thing about working out at home is you can fit it in whenever you want and you can do whatever you want--I do mostly strength training (there's so many effective exercises you can do to build strength without a single piece of equipment) and barre but also dabble in pilates and yoga without paying a cent. You can do it!

For me, working out at home doesn't work :( I don't have a dedicated space. Working out in the living room is too noisy in the morning... and I am not in the mood to workout while my husband is typing away on his laptop. The basement is full of baby stuff and very cold. So I drive and workout at 5:30am (HIIT) so I am back home while they are still sleeping . Good luck! I feel you. At the price i am paying, I could afford a peloton but I don't know where I would put it...

I’ve been using the Nike Training Club app, and really like it. I’ve set myself up a 6 week “lean fit” plan, specified that I have no equipment, and said I want 3-4 workouts a week, and it has set me up a program that’s really varied and fun.

I have a decent collection of workout and yoga DVDs as well as a small exercise bike that folds in half and a manual treadmill. We also go on a walk outside every day in addition to that. I had a great workout routine going a couple years ago where I would do either a DVD or 30 min on one of my exercise machines in addition to our nightly walk. I'm 38 weeks pregnant now, so I haven't kept that up for quite awhile, but I'm hoping to get back in the groove post baby.

DH and I have a gym at work, but we just can't be seem to use it. Work is too busy and with daycare it doesn't work to come early or stay late.

This is a big stressor for DH and honestly I'd like to be more in shape too. One of my other mom groups is full of Peloton fanatics but we just don't have that kind of money sitting around.

How do you work out at home? Equipment, routine, videos, motivation? Give me all your ideas :)
