My daughter never flipped. I had the c-section and it was a fabulous experience actually, I was very scared but everyone was great and I got to do skin-to-skin while they stitched me up (if you want that you have to ask for it though, but on both my surgeries they obliged). I was sat up and feeling great really quickly. My second wasn't quite as easy recovery but that is because I birthed an elephant :silly:<br /> I found both times that the staff in the OR were amazing and did everything they could do keep me calm. She was frank breech (butt down) and firmly wedged in my pelvis at 39 weeks so I had a scheduled c-section. M's c section was scheduled on a monday, at 39 weeks. As of the Friday before, he was transverse. An ECV was discussed, but he flipped in time. Mine was transverse for awhile, flipped head down just before the c section, then flipped again right after the c section date passed and then AGAIN for a final regular head down birth at 41 weeks. Oh what a flexible baby I had! I had a c-section with no laboring beforehand and my recovery, even with the stress of a NICU baby, was very easy. I've heard of many ECVs that have been successful, and I've heard of babies who haven't turned head down until labor. I think a very small percentage of babies stay breech up through labor. After a lot of thought and back and forth I declined an ECV today, and have a c-section scheduled for the 17th (39w) unless I go into labor or she flips on her own before that. The midwife I saw today said it's really unlikely that she'll flip now, though (although my stepsister's baby flipped TO breech during labor...she was stalled at 7cm and had to get a c-section). </p> <p>I'm trying to make peace with a c-section (mostly I'm anxious about the surgery itself, I haven't really processed not being able to deliver vaginally, which I was weirdly looking forward to...). Just curious how much hope there is... </p>
