This was me as well. I was so pumped up on hormones following birth that I felt like the first month I was running on adrenaline. I didn't feel tired, stressed or anything. But between 3-6 months post partum was when the PPD and PPA really hit, really hard. I was miserable.

I also had migraines following birth that came on a few months post partum and lasted to about 15 mos pp and my doctor said they were definitely hormone induced. It's crazy to me that it took over a year for my hormones to go back to normal.

You hear a lot about the baby blues. I was incredibly lucky that I really didn't experience them (or at least not to any great extent). Sure, it was hard and I was sleep deprived, but I honestly didn't struggle much the first few months with respect to hormone fluctuations.

Since 3 mo pp, however, I've had a few times where I can tell my hormones are going a bit crazy. Not ppd, thankfully, but I have definitely felt weepy and overwhelmed at times. Basically, I feel like I have bad pms for a day or to and then all goes back to normal.

I find this interesting bc there is so much info out there about the baby blues, but I seldom hear any talk about hormone shifts later post partum (besides with respect to ppd). Has anyone else experienced worse hormone shifts later than immediately following childbirth?
