My left hip will go numb or get crazy nerve tingling if I lay directly on top of it. I have to rest at an angle on that side -- either more onto my front or more onto my back. Exercising helps -- gives me more of a muscle cushion between the nerves and the bones. It started midway through with my first and super early with this pregnancy.

Could it be restless leg? If so try a Magnseium Citrate supplement, that helped me.

Hi, I had something similar, mine was mainly on my left leg. Putting a pillow between my legs would help. I also bought a memory foam mattress pad. But mainly what help was my water intake. I had to drinks lots of water if I didn't, I would start to have all sorts of issues. I literally had to track the amount I drank to make sure I was getting enough. I would still talk to your OB, she might be able to recommend some stretches, mine did. I would share them, but have forgotten them already. Hope you feel better soon.

@Mae: Ugh, decided to call my doc, and nurse said it sounds like I am doing everything I can. I don't know if there is a solution, and it might just be something I have to truck through.

I had a mild version of that - numbness would radiate down from my hips to my legs. Are you placing a pillow between your knees?

@Mae: Yes, I plan to. Trying to decide whether to wait until next appointment or call... It is sooooooo uncomfortable, and every day I get more miserable without sleep.

@mrscobee: maybe ask your doc? I wonder if you pinched a nerve somewhere or something, that sounds so uncomfortable!

@Mae: No, unfortunately I am laying on my side (try to lay on my left side most the time), so I am not sure what else I can do there... I have a pregnancy pillow too, but it isn't helping...

Are you laying on your back when it happens? The weight of your uterus can compress some nerves and make this happen if you're on your back.

19 weeks pregnant and about 1.5 weeks ago, my legs started going numb at night, then they get painful and wake me up, so I am getting like no sleep! I have tried things such as being more active in the evenings, stretching, eating potassium (bananas), and probably need to increase water intake...

Anyone else have this? If so, have you found a solution, or is it just something I'll be dealing with for the next 20 weeks?
