@lollipop: Poor mommy!

I also tried the 3 day method with complete failure. What was her reaction when she peed herself without diapers? Did she freak out and cry? Did she show an understanding that she needs to pee and poo in the potty?

I would talk to your pediatrician about this if I were you - our pediatrician did say 3 years old is the time to potty train - if your LO is waking up dry during nap and overnight (!) that is a sure sign of readiness - I would talk to the pediatrician about it. I would also talk to the preschool teachers about it to see what you can do. We had our own potty dilemma and that really really helped.

What worked for us was very cool underwears. I let him pick super cool Thomas the train underwear and explain to him he needs to remain clean and dry. Start with 1 hour each day. After a few accidents and cries, he got it. (And he didn't like the feeling of wearing something wet, which was the motivation to pee on the potty) But then he did produce pee and poo before when I sat him on the potty before bathtime....etc. Just thought that if you want to try something else that's something you can try!

Sorry I am of no help.... good luck!

@lollipop: What about turning on the bathtub? I needed to get a urine sample from my DD when she was under two, and she would pee in the bag thing in her diaper, until I turned the bath on. Just hearing the water going made her (and still does) go!

@Mrs.Tiger - She has yet to pee or poop in the toilet. I've tried leaving her alone but most of the time, someone sits with her.

@Looch - I think she understands what i'm asking of her because she sees me peeing and says "mommy pee pee". She can point out the yellow pee in the toilet bowl in her potty book. I've even squatted in the bathtub with her and pee to show her the pee coming out.

She's at full time preschool and does sit on the toilet but again, no pee. She has on a few occasions, woke up with a dry diaper overnight and at nap time. Even with those dry diapers and sitting on the toilet for 30 min, nothing comes out.

@KT326 - i've tried squirting some warm water to her private part when she's sitting down and nope, doesn't work either.

At this point, i'm wondering if there's some physical/medical reason why she can't pee. It's getting a bit ridiculous. I've also been told by numerous people that some kids are just late to the potty training game. When they are ready, it'll take only a few days so not to stress about it too much.

One tip our pediatrician gave us for when we decide to start potty training is to pour warm water over his genitals. It stimulates the need to release the pee. She potty trained her son that way. Maybe you can put the potty in the bathtub and try that?

Have you modeled for her what she has to do? Are you sure she understands what it is you are asking of her?

When/where is she currently peeing? You might try keeping a log of those times and then using timed intervals based on that information.

Does she poop on it?

Will she sit for an extended time? If so I'd load her up with juice, bring the iPad into the bathroom and wait for it to happen! Maybe once it happens once, she'll "get it" better?

@mamimami - she can sit for awhile, 15-30 min if we let her. But nothing comes out :(

Are you staying in there or leaving? Maybe she is nervous and wont go if you are there? (totally random thought!)

how long will she sit there? With my kids, at first, I would let them watch a video or something while sitting on the potty, just to build that experience of having peed or pooped in there, even if just by virtue of the length of time sitting.

My LO will be 3 in January. We started the potty training with the 3 day method in april (28 mths) then again in september (32 months) with complete failure. We've been putting her on the potty before and after sleeping and pretty much anytime she's agreeable to sitting on the potty. We have sticker charts and bribes but the biggest problem to this day is that she cannot produce a single pee in the toilet bowl. We have a smaller potty on the floor as well as the big potty.

Has anyone else had this problem with their LO not peeing in the toilet? I don't know what to do to help her go. Help!
