@autumnleaves: Pediatrician said the rash was not related to the Amoxicilin and both babies look good so no more meds. Woohoo! I didn't see them this morning before I left for work so I don't know if DD still had the goopy eyes.

@bluestriped bee: It's the goopy eyes that are the sign for us that LO1 has an ear infection. He doesn't get a fever and doesn't really tug on his ears. So now whenever we see eye crusties and good we take that as a sign. He didn't get his first ear infection till 15 months but since then has had 3 in a 5 month period. The Augmentin works better for my LO than the Amoxicillin but hopefully the doctors will find something other than Augmentin they can use for your LO.

Not normally, but E had a really bad one once...stomach bug, followed quickly by a bad head cold, an upper respiratory infection, a double ear infection, and finally conjunctivitis.

@KayKay: @Canoli: Yeah, the Urgent Care doc said that they are usually related. I guess I was suprised it was an ear infection, too. (It's the first time she had an ear infection.) I thought other than tugging on the ear that ear infections don't have symptoms. Yeah, never heard about the goopy eyes.

@avivoca: First symptoms were red swollen eye lids and maybe pink-ish eyes. I was thinking it was weird that my bronchitis turned into pink eye for my daughter. I called the pediatrician and she said I probably had a virus that caused my bronchitis and the virus spread to my daughter as conjunctivitis. I think the goopy eyes didn't start until the next day. We were planning on seeing our pediatrician the next day if it got worse but we ended up going to UC because she was wheezing later that night. Luckily, the wheezing went away and was not heard at UC so they treated her for the conjunctivitis and ear infection.

We have had ear infections + conjunctivitis and ear infections + goopy eyes that were not conjunctivitis. Either way not fun. Hugs!

Yep, H had conjunctivitis and an ear infection at the same time last year. It was super fun (not). Luckily, the conjunctivitis cleared up with an oral antibiotic so we didn't have to try to force eye drops into a one-year-old's eye.

For both of my kids, ear infections = goopy eyes since it's generally all related to congestion in the nose/sinuses/eustachian tubes/tear ducts. So it may not actually be conjunctivitis, just the congestion finding another path out!

DD has had goopy eyes and urgent care doc saw some mild redness and swelling in her ears. We gave her antibiotics last night but she saw a rash so maybe it's an allergy. She's seeing the pediatrician later today.
