I'm noticing that my supply is up with a few days back to work. I normally only feed one boob at a sitting, so at work I'm pumping both which is increasing my supply.

It seems like my LO rarely fully emtpies my breasts when she eats. I am hoping that pumping at work and fully emtying them will help keep my supply up. Sounds like it is helping you for sure!

It sounds like DS is just like your LO. He nurses great in the morning but wasn't eating a lot from me as the day went on. We've been kind of obsessed with weighing him before and after feeds so we've had a lot of data. I keep saying that he's just a lazy eater since he was rarely eating as much as I know I can pump. And when I'd offer a bottle after he's nurse, he would take it happily. I think he would get frustrated that my milk wouldn't come out as quickly as it would in the first 5 minutes. Plus, bottles are easier and he gets a lot more of them now while at day care. However, now that I'm pumping more at work, I've definitely noticed an increase in supply!

@highwire: That's awesome! Maybe it will stay up for you. No need to get down about something that's just a "maybe." :)

@highwire: So glad it seems to be working in your favor! For me, well, not so much . . . but I am just taking it day by day, and trying to focus on what I can do (pump and supplement) versus what I can't (pump enough to cover all of her daytime feeds).

Mine took a bit of a hit around 4 months, so a month back at work. Now at 6 months with the help of MMP, it's rebounded again. I make sure to eat lots of food and be very hydrated. I found that limiting my caffeine helped a lot too.

My milk supply has been rocking and rolling since I came back to work last week.

I had a few consultations with an LC early on in LOs life. They would weigh her before and after feedings to see how well I was transferring milk to her when she was nursing. One appointment she did great, the next one she did terrible, and the third she did just okay.

I wonder if she's had inefficient transfer this whole time? (We've had to supplement with formula so she is still getting nutrients.) I know people always say the pump is never as efficient as the baby, but that might not be true for us. Now that I pump 4 out of the 6 or 7 times I express milk each day (she nurses the other 2-3) my milk supply is increasing.
