My DD has always been a very fast eater. I have a really fast letdown and flow, so she just adapted early I guess. At your LO's age, she would only nurse for about 10 minutes (or less) total each session. Now, at 10.5 mo, she's even faster. Completely normal and consistent growth.

E got herself down to 10 minutes total nursing time per session really quickly. I was grateful!

My 1st was a slow nurser - 45 mins each and every time!!

When my 2nd came along and nursed in 7 mins flat I was worried but then realized that she is a not a comfort nurser at all - she only wanted to nurse to eat and be done! She was that way the whole time she nursed and self weaned at 15 months!

Mine! She will nurse 5-10 min TOTAL per session and goes an average of 3 hours between (sometimes 2, sometimes 4). She has been doing this since birth. She just had her 11 day weight check today and she is up 9 oz from birth and gained 11 oz since last Tuesday. I am no longer concerned about her nursing habits after today's appointment. She is obviously just a quick, efficient nurser. I also have an over supply and a fast let down.

Mine was super quick for a really long time. 5-10 minutes on one side per feeding.

Mine was really quick too. Some babies are just efficient nursers, and if you have a fast flow, that might contribute as well. I used to worry about it until I saw what a chunk she was becoming.

Mine was quick, but had many sessions where it was upwards of 45 minutes! Those were usually bedtime sessions though.

LO is almost six weeks old and I feel like he doesn't nurse nearly as long each day as I expected. He's always been a quick eater but now that he's spacing his feedings to three hours during the day it just doesn't seem to add up to much time. He averages about seven to ten minutes per feeding. I have a hefty supply so I'm sure he's getting decent ounces but I was just expecting to spend more hours of my day nursing.

How long and how often does your newborn nurse???
