I rarely see my neighbors. LO is 7 weeks old and so far we haven't had any problems with them complaining about noise. We are in a corner unit at the end of the hall so if LO is crying really loudly, i usualky take her into the living room because it has no sharing walls with anyone. Plus we are in Japan, so I really doubt they would actually come and complain.

Ha, I live in a huge apartment complex with many annoying neighbors. We are often woke at 2am by drunk college kids coming home, there are always barking dogs, and our upstairs neighbors stomp around on the floor. So, I kinda can't wait to have a crying baby! I've often joked that I'm gonna stand out on the balcony with her when she's crying in the middle of the night. If it were a smaller complex I might feel a little bad, but I mean, it's a baby, they cry....what do they expect you to do about it?

we live on the ground floor of a 2 storey building, the couple that lives upstairs have a toddler and the wife is pregnant again. Sometimes they can be a bit noisy but we dont really care too much. the couple the left of us also has a baby but we never hear the baby cry. We are pretty ok with the situation and dont anticipate that anyone will have complaints about our baby since we live on the ground floor. we hope to move out before the baby is 1

No change, really, no one said anything to us about the crying (esp. during sleep training). It's really quiet where we live, so I was worried at first, but now, not so much.

I think it just depends on your neighbors. We used to live in a townhouse that was pretty close together. We could easily hear our neighbor's baby cry. But we didn't care, they had a baby. Nothing they could do about it! Everyone around us had small children so I think they understand.

I'm in a house and my neighbor still hear's LO cry sometimes.

Yeah, DH says too bad for them. Now that I've been home since I recently stopped working I noticed that they actually babysit during the day so hopefully it's not a problem. And the complaint was months ago..but still, to be blunt, one of the guys down there is just an a**hole. He actually came up here and YELLED at DH.

I never thought about this because I would think having a barking dog is louder than a newborn baby. I might be wrong. When we first got our dog, she was a barker. She barked every time we left the apartment. I was afraid we were going to get complaints. I think we got one complaint and so we put her into doggie daycare until we could deal with the separation anxiety. We now trained her so she hardly barks.

We, luckily, live above two parking garages and no one is above us, so we don't have to worry about bothering neighbors.

Oh, I see that your apartment is really sensitive to noise and you have very fussy neighbors. I would be concerned, too.

Sorry about your apartment and your neighbors.

For those of you who are in apartments, how did your neighbors react to seeing you were pregnant or to bringing home the baby? Did you get any noise complaints for the baby crying?

I ask because we live in a 2 story building in a corner one bedroom. Due to lease timing we won't be moving out of our one bedroom until probably when the baby is around six months old. (Our lease ends about two weeks before our due date and we're planning to extend on a month to month basis until we're ready to move.) Basically, we have neighbors with kids, but the ones who live below us are very annoying, hypocritical, and basically fussy.

What was your experience with bringing a newborn into an apartment?

(edited because it was too darn long! :) )
