I like to cook my apples before I put them in the parbaked pie shell, makes the pie less watery. I also double the crumb topping!

@locavore_mama: I use this recipe: http://m.allrecipes.com/recipe/15587/apple-crumb-pie.

I use Granny Smith apples, add an extra tbsp of flour to the mixture so it's not runny, and double the crumb topping. I also recommend making the day before and refrigerating overnight.

Wednesday is DH's birthday and since he's not much of a sweets person I thought I would bake him a birthday pie.

Anyone has a good recipe for a apple pie with a crumb topping?

Bonus points if it's not too sweet. Like seriously he finds tiramisu too sweet!

Thanks :)
