When DS was on purees, I would bake the apples. Once they're done, the peels slip off easily and then you can puree/mash them.

I do, but only because I don't puree it, I just cook and then sort of smash it. At about 11 months, my daughter just started eating whole apples, though, and I don't peel those.

@chopsuey119: Oh that's a good point. We pick our own apples from an organic farm in the fall, and I make enough applesauce to last us all year. I guess if you're using store apples, you might want to peel them.

Funny. I was just thinking about making applesauce for my LO!
Not sure whether I'd leave the skin on though. If my mom sends me apples from our trees at home I'll leave them on since I know our trees are 100% organic and pesticide free.
If I buy organic from the market I may peel.

No, I just core and quarter the apples. I use the same process I use for green beans, so my apple sauce is little runny. I also use the same process for other fruit with edible outsides (pears, peaches, etc...). I think a lot of the nutrition is in the skin, so you're supposed to leave it on?

If you make apple sauce for an infant do you peel the apple first?
