I didn't disclose and I just found out I was pregnant when I got the job. I finally told them when I was 4 months pregnant, and they were happy for me. But then my worst fears were realized 2 1/2 months later when they let me go. Sorry, not to be a downer but the reality is that it did feel like I was let go because I was pregnant and wanted to take 10 weeks maternity. I didn't fight it because I didn't want to have to go through that kind of stress when I was having a baby. It did all work out because I did find a new job after my baby was born that was very family friendly.

Oh BTW you don't have to disclose that you are pregnant, even if it is obvious in appearance that you are.

In July, last year, I was interviewing at 10 weeks pregnant. I didn't disclose my pregnancy until and written offer was made, (I was 13 weeks pregnant at that time). When I signed the offer and sent it over, I fully disclosed my pregnancy to my now bosses via phone and told them the truth. My previous employer didn't even know that I was pregnant at the time and I wanted to get into my 2nd trimester before mentioning it to anyone.

Thankfully they were pleasant about it. I do feel that they also took on another person that was #2 on their list that they didn't intend to hire, (I guess for backup purposes).

@mrakoala how did your disclosure go?

I am presently 15 weeks along with my second baby. I am job hunting due to inflexibility at my current job among other reasons. I'm applying to my former employer whom I left for this job among others. No interviews yet but based on some feedback I feel one may be imminent. I can't decide how to approach this very delicate situation!

I wouldn't disclose unless it's fairly obvious that you are pregnant.

I interviewed at 12 weeks pregnant and did not disclose. I wasn't obviously pregnant and I hadn't had my NT scan/ultrasound yet and hadn't even announced to my family either. I just wasn't comfortable telling anyone at all. I was offered the job and took it. I disclosed on my first day after I had my scan and found out all was okay.

I found out I was pregnant when I got offered my current job - I told them before accepting, but that was just me. I've seen other posts recently about this and I don't seem to be in the norm. I knew I wouldn't be covered by FMLA and had a current job (I was being stolen away from another firm) and didn't want to leave my current job if the new one wasn't on board with my pregnancy. It ended up working out for me because they added 8 weeks paid maternity leave to my offer!

I interviewed for a job at 30 weeks pregnant. Not ideal but I'd applied for it at like 12 weeks and it just took them FOREVER to call me for an interview. The pregnancy was pretty obvious at that point so I brought it up in the first interview because I just felt like it was the elephant in the room (I just said that I understood timing may be a bit of an issue but that I already had daycare lined up and fully intended to be back to work). I didn't get the job, but there is no reason to think my pregnancy was the (main) reason for that.

@Nskillet: not sure for our internal candidate, but i knew when she was hired, she's not a direct report to me. for my husband's new hires, i think one told him during the first interview and the other it was further along in the process, but he wouldn't have decided another way because of it (ahem, not that ppl do that :P)... so it was a non-issue.

I was hired for my current job while we were TTC and got my BFP before I actually started working, but after I was hired. I told them once I was 12 weeks along.

We hired someone last year that was pregnant at the time and had about six months to go before her due date.

It's not an issue at our company (hr industry and very family friendly).

DH is a manager and readily hires/recruits for different offices. He hired 2 pregnant women and promoted a TTC (knew because of fertility/appts) employee in the last 2 years!

Good luck!!! :goodluck:

Has anyone here had experience with this? A lot of my lady friends are saying not to disclose until an offer is in hand. My husband, feels differently and that I should disclose in an interview.

What would you do and have you done? Has anyone been hired pregnant?
