Yes, not a must have, but a nice to have! Cam got the same one at 9 months, I wish we had gotten it sooner since he loves it. You don't have to use all the legs at first, it can sit flat on the floor or on two legs leaning. The sound quality isn't fabulous, but it may just need new batteries (which we haven't tried yet) regardless, he uses it every day since we got it. We found a coupon in the paper and got it for $28 at Kmart.

YES!! We have that exact one and my LO loves it. We've had older kids at our house (3-6 years old) that play with it too so I think it has a long lifespan. I would recommend buying it used though. I seem them a lot on Craigslist/kijiji or a used kids store.

My LO also loves the wooden activity cubes too!

we have one by leap frog and it is ok. but i prefer the wooden ones like the Bzany zoo. My baby also much prefers her silly town toy by fisher price because theres more involved than just pushing the buttons

We skipped it for various reasons. I do wish we had gotten the zany zoo that @duckduckkristen posted.

LO is 8.5 months and we got him this one for Christmas. It was worth every penny. He uses it to stand up and will play with it all day. It's his favorite toy by far.

My mom got LO that exact activity table for Christmas. She really does seem to enjoy it, even though she can't use it on her own yet. She loves playing with it when I sit with her and hold her up and it has more to do within that one toy than some of her other toys. I agree that finding it used if possible would be a good idea but my LO likes hers a lot and she can't even stand yet!

We had the exact same one you posted, as well as a few other versions including a couple that moved/ could be pushed. LO liked them all, and they were really useful for keeping him occupied on his own for a little bit here and there. I think we received all of these type things for Christmas last year when LO was about 8 months old, and he probably used them from a little after Christmas through the summer. So they're not terribly long-lived (though nothing really is for infants and toddlers), but we liked them and we had the space.
I will say that they are really good things to get used- it's all plastic, so you can clean everything off easily, and even after 6 months of use ours look pretty new. So I'd suggest trying to buy one used if possible.

We have something similar to @mrsaudi, which sounds like it may be better for your LO to have something that moves! :)

@Weagle: We have the same one, but got it as a hand me down. LO isn't old enough to play with it yet, but I think she will enjoy it when she gets bigger! ETA: you could always try and find a used one, so that way if LO doesn't like it, it's not as big of a deal.

We bought one of these bc LO likes to stand up and walk around things, however he does not care for it. We also bought him one of those activity pushers, and he loves it!

something like this

http://www.amazon.com/VTech-80-077001-Sit-to-Stand-Learning-Walker/dp/B0053X62GK/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1359053421&sr=8-2&keywords=baby+walker

LO loves standing up and cruising these days. I'm thinking about buying an activity table like this: http://www.amazon.com/Fisher-Price-Laugh-Learn-Friends-Musical/dp/B0015KOOHO/ref=sr_1_1?s=baby-products&ie=UTF8&qid=1359053056&sr=1-1&keywords=activity+table

Do you think it's worth it? She's 8.5 months old if that helps.
