Before then, I just used buntings with built in mittens. LO is 4.5 months and I'm sure she'll pull them off, so I may skip them. The little cotton ones are useless but the ones with elasticized cuffs are great. Haven't lost one yet.</p> <p>We have a Columbia bunting with the fold over cuffs. That's great it also has fold over feet.</p> <p>No mittens in Canadian winters is really not an option. I put them on underneath her shirt and jacket. I prefer things with built-in mittens for the first couple of years for that reason. It can be very dangerous to play outside and have a mitten come off depending on the temperature. I know several toddlers in our area have ended up with frostbite that way. If you are watching and keep putting mittens back on there really isn't danger, but it's interruptive to play and annoying on both ends.
