@Mae: no problem! @jetsa posted it on another thread, and I think it's really helpful! They're still a bit bulky on her, but I can see how it will really help when she's bigger.

@LovelyPlum: thank you for the video! I couldn't watch last night but just did and that is helpful in terms of seeing how to put the diapers on and get a good fit! I think I might actually go try to find some youtube videos of the exact diapers I have on smaller babies, which hadn't occurred to me before! :)

@Zbug: Nope, the free times (all in ones). The AIOs are by far the least bunchy of the bunch it seems and I'm not that concerned about those fitting. But all the pocket ones we have seem really... overstuffed. :/

I guess it may be really hard to tell for sure until she is actually here! I was just folding them up thinking hm... when they are all snapped down they just seem SO bulky for a tiny little baby.

The bunchiness depends on the brand and OS versus NB.

We cloth diapered from the minute she came home, but we used prefolds and covers. The covers did have to get kind of snapped down/bunched, but the prefolds were newborn size and fit her for the first 6 weeks. I know a lot of people who did a diaper rental service for when their babies were tiny.

We started at six weeks. Sorry, I don't remember how much she weighed then but it was fairly average.

Do you have BG 4.0s? We started off just using the newborn inserts, and I didn't find them too bunchy.

Have you seen this? I found it really helpful!

We started with our cloth around 2 weeks or so, and they are still a bit big on her. (ETA: she was about 7 lbs). The Flips are bigger than the Applecheeks at this point, and the prefolds make them even bigger. I prefer the flat inserts at this point, since they're not so bulky. I figure, she's going to grow into them eventually.

ETA: whoops, forgot the link:

We started at two weeks after his cord came off (he was around 10#?. I don't remember them being any bulkier on him than we expected them to be.

We started 3w in! I don't remember how much she weighed at that point, but I don't remember really noticing the bulk in an excess way beyond cloth being a bigger diaper obviously!

We used the BG insert snapped down to its smallest with the snapped end at her back!

We were given a lot of diapers (people didn't pay attention when I said we were going to use cloth...) plus we took a bunch from the hospital...that lasted us to about 3 months. The cloth diapers looked HUGE on her (she was about 12 pounds) but she grew into them & never seemed to mind them

The one sized diapers were really bunchy and I didn't start using them until LO was 10lbs.

So LO isn't quite here yet but I just finished prepping our cloth diaper stash (we have 6 BG AIOs and 9 pocket diapers in 4 different brands to try out and see what we like best).

Once everything was washed and dried and I had to reassemble it all.. I started getting worried about how these are actually going to fit our LO. The BG don't seem that bad in terms of bunching when snapped down to the smallest size, but ALL of the various pocket diapers seem like the inserts get really bunched up when snapped down. It just doesn't seem... right. Or comfortable. But is that just how the cloth diapers are on the little babies?

Also, how much did your LO weigh when you started them in CDs? I know we should use disposables for the first few weeks at least until she's done with sticky poo and also not getting changed 12+ times/day. But I'm wondering around what size/age most people start their LOs on cloth if they got one size diapers!
