@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: Oh that's great!

@Mamaof2: Yup, she is happy to leave her LO at home with Dad for the afternoon and just hang out with girlfriends.

To make it crystal clear you could start the invite with a line like "leave the babes & tots with Dada and come celebrate with two-time mama to be"

@sunny: did you ask the mom what she wanted? I LOVED having my DS at my shower for his little sister and it would be weird to have my kid there but tell everyone else "no kids"

@meredithNYC: Yup using Paperless Post. But since kids don't have email... I would imagine people just think that the invite was just addressed to the email owner and I didn't leave off the kids names on purpose. You know?

@Adira: That is what I was kind of thinking! We just were thinking it would be nice to have some adult time with no kids to attend to since most of the moms are SAHMs.

@BandDmommy: Sunday 2-4pm.

@mrs. wagon: Nice! We don't have space to host 2 parties at once, but that is a great idea.

I threw a second baby shower (I called it a sprinkle) and included on the invite that there was a dads and kids playdate happening at the same time in the basement! They ordered pizza and watched TV while the moms had a tea lunch upstairs!

@sunny: what day and time are you planning? If on weekend, I would assume no kids unless specifically told to bring kids.

@sunny: Oh, haha, digital is tricky! And I think because this is the mom's second baby, people are going to assume her first will be there and therefore kids are invited! You might need to specify "Adults only" or something on the invite... not sure how to word that though!

@sunny: could you send them by Paperless Post? They allow you to "address" people on the digital envelope. Also, their stuff is so beautiful.

@Adira: @mrs. tictactoe: The invite is going to be digital! I'm not sending anything by paper. So even if I sent it to "Mom's name" I don't think its 100% clear.

I always assume that if someone isn't listed on the invite (or the envelope), then they are not invited. When my mom sent baby shower invites to my friends, she included their children specifically by listing their name on the envelope:

Miss Mom's Name and Daughter
Address

So if the invite was only addressed to me, I would assume my children were not invited (though I might ask if my only options were to bring them or skip the party).

I wouldn't mention it on the invite and wait to see if someone asks about it.

I'm helping throw a baby shower to celebrate my friend's 2nd child. It is going to be ~12 ladies, all moms of 3 year olds (some with 2nd children too). Are kids typically invited in cases like this? The other hosts and I were thinking it would be fun to leave the kids at home with Dads (if at all possible), but we don't want anyone to not come if that isn't possible. How do we word the invite?
