We gave mangoes at 7 months, and they're still a favorite! We've also already introduced strawberries, citrus, etc with no issues.

We did mangoes early, but I know they tend to be a more allergenic food than other fruits. But E loves them so we keep giving therm and we have no family history. We've given her everything but shellfish, which we are waiting until she's a year.

I read somewhere that it was over 6 months but that 8-10 months is better. I wish I could send you that article but it was a while back. I'd ask your LO's ped. I want to say that it might be a constipating fruit but not for sure... So don't quote me on that. :)

I am actually allergic to mangoes, but never had one until I was a teenager. It gives me a rash similar to poison ivy in and around my mouth, so it's really gross. For that reason, we didn't feed them to DS until he was almost 2.5, and he was totally fine. FWIW, my dad is allergic to them too and it's the only food we are allergic to.

We love mango. Same as @rahlyrah though, LO doesn't have a family history of allergies, so I wasn't too concerned.

Mango is my LO's favorite food! We've been giving it to him since he was 5 months without any issue.

ETA: We also gave strawberries early on. Neither DH nor I have any allergies so I've been pretty lax with what I feed him.

So helpful everyone! Thank you! Keep the interesting info coming! I always assumed that as long as you watched them closely, allergens wouldn't be as much of a factor BUT I was scared that maybe some allergic reactions can be too intense & more fatal for a person that small; that's why I thought pb & strawberries were generally a no go....

@.twist.: PB - yes. Honey - no. But honey is because of botchulism (spelling?) not allergies.

We have no known allergies within our immediate families so we didn't hold back on anything. The only thing we avoided was honey. We did have to watch him with kiwi. If he ate too much he would get red around his mouth and his bottom.

@.twist.: honey can contain botulism spores. Since babies' tummies don't have enough competitive microorganisms the spores can grow.

@.twist.: Yeah, something about it not being cooked enough and their young immune systems... idk, I'm so NOT a Dr... haha! I was surprised about the pb though, since it seems like there are SO many peanut-allergic kids. We haven't given L any pb yet though, because we have the chunky kind, and I don't want her to choke on any little peanuts!

@.twist.: L's ped had no problem with peanut butter (at 6 months even!), but still said no honey til 1.

@Mrs. Sunshine: We were given the all clear for all fruits. I specifically brought up mangoes and citrus. She just said everything in moderation for a while, especially citrus as it can burn their tongues and upset their stomachs. Raw tomatoes are one of DD's favorites now at 1 year.

I have high allergies to things like citrus is one of my triggers... and we gave LO those dried Philippines mango since he was 6 months old. He's 2 now so I'm pretty sure we are in the clear but want to know what we did was right! :)

LO is 5 months. We've been doing a "lighten up@ version of BLW because she is so young but has a super intense interest in food. She does really well when I just mash things (with a little chunk/consistency) & loves to eat. So far we've had sweet potatoes (sometimes with blueberries squeezed in), avocado, banana, apple sauce & sometimes some of my green smoothie. This week I would like to introduce acorn squash & mango. I know to avoid strawberries, citrus & Allergy triggers but I'm looking to keep a variety & was wondering if mango is safe to give her?
