I have seven nursing tanks all of the same style and I have LIVED in them for the last seven months! When I'm home I usually just wear a tank and nursing bra (I'm a G cup!), when it's cold I throw on a cardigan and when I'm out I just wear a normal shirt / top over my tank.

I HATE nursing tanks and bras. Bought 2 of each, loathe the tanks and very rarely wear the bras. I like non-nursing shelf bras (way easier to pull up or down with one hand, faster to get to the booby than undoing a clip) and plain ole seamless camis (super easy to pull down, mine are from the Limited and come in a million colors). Also the seamless camis fit whether you have a pregnant belly or a skinny one. I bought nursing tanks to fit in the awkward postpartum time and now they're baggy.

I loved my bravado tanks for sleep and lounging around, so comfy. I wore a nursing bra with a normal tank under a normal shirt. Tank goes down, shirt goes up.

@coacheswife123: Yes! those tami tanks are awesome! I wore them when I was pregnant and I like them for nursing too.

I lived in nursing tanks for the first few months. That was my maternity wardrobe. Sweat pants and nursing tank. I still wear my nursing tanks at home and even when I go out. I don't wear a bra underneath though. Nursing tops I would skip though. You can just wear a nursing tank with a shirt over or wear a nursing bra and stretchy neckline shirt.

I had a couple in the beginning, but quickly learned ANY shirt and a nursing bra works just fine! I think the nursing bra is essential vs tanks or specifically designed nursing apparel...although towards the end sports bra like bras worked just as good as nursing ones :)

20 months PP and I haven't worn a nursing top in over a year. Except for this one cute one from Japanese Weekend that I'm just keeping in my normal rotation - forever. But I don't care about modesty - I just yank my shirt down and go for it. Tanks and shirts are better for keeping mostly covered.

for me, nursing tanks YES, nursing bras and shirts, not as much.

i didn't wear a bra under the nursing tank either --- i think that's how they are meant to be? just a disposable breast pad.

i do think you need at least one nursing bra though, for those times when you need more support, etc.

@coacheswife123: when I wear nursing tanks, I don't wear a bra underneath. The tank is the bra. But I'm pretty small-chested compared to most bfing moms.

I prefer the tanks to the bras. I wear a Bravado Basics Felicity nursing tank (from Target) under all my pre-preg tops and they work great! I have done the bra/tank/top combo, too, and it works as well. Just more pieces.

I wear tanks under everything. That way I can just lift up my shirt but the tank is still covering me during a feeding. I wear a bra with them cause otherwise the girls don't have enough support.

I wear regular tanks & regular tops... I have 1 nursing tank that I did wear in the beginning (especially to bed) but I haven't worn it in months! My favorite tanks are the Liz Lange maternity tanks at Target & the Old Navy tami's... they both stretch to pull down but keep their shape well (Liz Lange keeps better but both still work). I wear regular shirts too & either pull it up with a tank under it I pull down or find some that easily pull down. The only thing I've found really "necessary" is a nursing bra.

I liked to have a few nursing tops for when I knew I'd be feeding either in public or in near-public (church nursery where people walk in all the time) and knew I wanted it to be really easy. I rarely wear them at home.
