I was always taught to let things breathe down there at night so, I will just wear pj bottoms to bed. That way, it doesn't matter what I wear during the day. That's my theory. :-)

@tina: We should start a new abbrevation. FWEO (For Womens Eyes Only) or NSFM (Not safe for Men). LOL

Or, I wonder if we can suggest a new forum for Women Only.
That should be a good hint to MrBee and any men on here to stay away. LOL!

After I gave birth and my bleeding stopped completely (what, 7 weeks later!?!?), I wore pantyliners every day until I was 5 months post-partum. I just felt like it was what Mrs. Bee said.

Also wanted to add, hair down there and discharge - not gross, it's what makes us women and separates us from pre-pubescent girls. Sorry, I don't get the whole 'it's gross and dirty!' concept. Garbage trucks are gross and dirty, women's bodies are amazing.

I got in the habit of wearing pantyliners about 4 years ago when I got my IUD. I was spotting for 3 months straight and I guess after the 3 months I was hooked! I'm like some of you other women, I feel so dirty without them because I can tell if I have discharge and that feeling is so gross if I'm out and about and have to stay in the same undies! I haven't had any problems with any infections. I don't wear them to bed at all so I still get the night to air out. I also use always dry pantyliner and LOVE them!

@tina: I am the same way!
I will NOT wear underwear without a liner unless I'm going to bed!
I've been wearing them daily since I had my first daughter, so almost 9 years now.
I've had no issues with infections or anything.
TMI....but I find that I have less discharge or "issues" for needing a liner if I'm completely shaved down there. Once I have an real amt of hair it seems to hold the discharge and that's when it's yucky.

I'm in this boat and recently added panty liners when my undies seemed to be extra *ahem* covered?!

What gives? MY problem is discharge is so normal for me that I never know if ive got something unless my OB tells me. Sigh.

@Andrea: I have issues regardless... beh. I've tried it all and spoken to so many gynos about it, but I think that the bottom line is that some women just have more discharge than others. (TMIIIIIIII) I used to get UTIs when I was younger, but now I'm super careful with keeping things clean down there, and if I feel one coming on I take cranberry extract pills.

I really really really hope Mr. Bee is not following this thread. We should have a "women only" flag!!

I've worn a pantiliner every day since I hit puberty. This is wayyyy TMI but I absolutely need it unless maybe I wore 3 pair of underwear every day. I wear 100% cotton undies and always infinity liners and they stay very dry. I always carry extras and if it gets moist at all, I change it.

hehe... evil... muhahah

i'm with the above - i don't like using pantyliners. i used them when i used to spot before my period and at the end of my period, when it was a waste to wear a whole pad. even with discharge (tmi), i just wear my undies....

Unless there's a lot to absorb, I just prefer my cotton undies. However, I started using gladrags for a few months prior to pregnancy (they have cloth pantiliner options too) and I love them. So much softer on your pieces, and the cotton absorbs differently than a disposable. But it's still another layer, so there's still the air circulation issue.

I think "evil" might be a bit strong :) but it IS important to let everything breathe down there. I've found that (TMI alert) "stuff" sits on top of underwear that is a material other than cotton much more than regular cotton undies, which tend to absorb discharge and/or let it kind of breathe through. Maybe it won't bother you as much if you wear cotton undies that breathe?

I've never been a fan of pantyliners, personally. I think the idea that the vagina is self-cleaning/regulating is an important one. I'm 36 weeks pregnant and haven't used them at all, but I guess everyone is different "down there" during their pregnancies (and in the rest of life too). Heck, I'm still wearing my thongs!
