I know they take a lot of time, effort, of course cost of fabric is considerable, and they're fairly meticulous (it's harder to sew in a straight line than some people think). So I know in general the cost of quilts are pretty high - but $500 is way too high for a twin! I'd pay maybe $100-$150 for a twin size quilt. Especially a "simpler" pattern like that. I like that design too!

My daughter has recently puked and had diarrhea all over her bed. We stay away from expensive bedding :) but she does have a nice quilt that a friend made sitting on a chair.

I have several homemade quilts because my mom and aunt are quilters. So I do know how much time and money go into a handmade quilt. Basically, a lot, especially if the pattern is complicated, there are a lot of different fabrics, or the material is expensive. Not sure if the ones you are looking at are machine mass-produced, but the pattern is not complicated. $500 is definitely too much! I second PP, find someone local or someone on Etsy.

Personally I wouldn't pay that much for a quilt.

This looks really similar and is only $95!

I definitely agree with others who mentioned finding someone local! $500 seems way too expensive for that pattern.

500 seems steep for a quilt like that (I really like the + one though!). I bet you could find a similar style cheaper. Are you looking for something handmade? Or can it be mass produced?

As someone who quilts, I honestly can't see that basic of a design costing $500. You could probably sew it yourself for much cheaper and it would last just as long.

Quilts are totally worth the cost (as they last so long), but I wouldn't pay $500 for that quilt. It's beautiful, but little. The pattern isn't very complicated, so I just can't see it being that much. Etsy has some amazing shops for quilts. I'm sure you can find another gorgeous one like this for less than $250.

I think $500 is really high for something on a toddler bed, and I can't believe that's just for a twin! I'm also looking for big girl bedding right now, and even though I'm searching for something really nice because her furniture is really elaborate and nice, I am going to cap it at around $250ish for a set. I looked at having a comforter made at the baby store here and it was going to be over $400 just for the comforter and I was like "Hell No." Barf, milk, pee - there are just way too many reasons that I'm trying to stay a lot lower than that!

Oh and I agree with finding an etsy seller. My LO2's custom bumper at the local baby store would have been about $250, and I found an etsy seller that will do it - same fabric- for about $160.

I'm not a very skilled quilter, so take my opinion with a grain of salt :silly: but those patterns don't look difficult to sew yourself. Or you could probably hire someone to make you a very similar quilt for less than $500!

ETA: @loveisstrange beat me to it!

Quilts take a lot of time and effort to make. That being said, those are both super basic. Not gonna lie, I don't think that's $500 worth of quilt.

Possibly find someone local who could make you something similar? Or take a stab at it yourself and then pay someone else to do the quilting for you?

We actually have a twin custom from lwph! I love, love, love the design. My only disappointment was how thin it was. We have another quilt from somewhere else that is part of a bedding set and it's much thicker and heavier.

Eta: I still haven't decided if the money spent was worth it. We love it and it will def be an heirloom item, but I'm not 100% sure I would spend the money again.

I am planning out how I want to decorate B's room when we switch him to a big boy bed and I am obsessed with these two quilt designs. That is, until I saw it would cost me over $500 for a twin! Ugh. That is so much money. Why are they so expensive? Are they worth the cost?
