@T.H.O.U.: Yeah I'm not a fan of "bad" either
Especially since toddlers are not acting bad in my eyes just testing boundaries, and limits at this point

DD'S sitter is pretty proper, I've heard her correct the kiddos when they say yeah and have them say "yes"

Our prior daycare avoided the word "bad". They didn't want to label the child but tried to direct it at the action saying "Thats Not Nice" .

When LO was in daycare they were not supposed to use negative words at all. So if someone was hitting, it was not supposed to be, "No hitting," but, "Gentle hands."

I think they did try to practice this but I don't think it comes naturally to everyone. A few times when I was there I definitely heard a teacher tell a child "no" or "we don't XYZ." It didn't really bother me though.

I was talking to my daughter's new teacher this morning and telling her about the things she was saying this weekend during imaginative play. The teacher told me that they don't say the words, "be quiet", "no" or "hush." She said it is very difficult sometimes to break up a quarrel or to find the right words when not using those words. I found it interesting and was pleased to hear this considering the place she just came, the teachers sometimes used words and sentences that I was not a fan of. At. All.

Are there any words your daycare teachers aren't allowed or aren't supposed to use when talking to or disciplining the children?
