@macintosh: Oh no!! Hmm I wear her almost daily still. I haven't tried a back carry yet (but I want to!!) so I still wear her in front, but I have her pretty high up. Although I'm short, and have a short torso. Maybe that helps keep the pressure off my shoulders more? I will try and find a recent picture.

@macintosh: toddler tulas should really be called preschool tulas. DD1 would fit better in a toddler but if fine in the standard. She's tall for her she (3
5 years).

@macintosh: i wear my 35# preschooler and 24# toddler in our standard tula. I can do back carries on my own, took a little practice but now it's easy. I still wear the toddler on my front though, she likes giving me kisses when she's worn so I soak it up.

@macintosh: My daughter isn't a toddler yet, as she's only 9 months. But we have a tula and have just started doing back carries. I was surprised at how easy it is. I expected it to have a steep learning curve and to need help. Not so. Simple and quick.

This thread is making me miss babywearing! DS is a large (25 lbs) 1 year old and too heavy for the Ergo 360 to be comfortable. Those of you who wear toddlers in the Tula, do you back carry? Is that easy to get on by yourself? I like the umbrella stroller but I miss my baby snuggles (and having my hands free).

I had a Beco Gemini for the first 9 months of my son's life. I kinda liked babywearing but the Beco didnt make me love it.

Then I got a Tula.

Now I wear him all the time and always want to wear him. He feels as light as a feather, its comfy and cute, and its much much smaller/simpler to carry.

We travel a ton and the Tula changed our travel/babywearing game.

Tula FTW.

I don't know as I don't have a Tula but to me they are babies and in that sort of carrier for only months and not every day (again, for me..I'm not the type to "wear" a baby everywhere.) so because I already had an Ergo I didn't bother buying a Tula.

@lovehoneybee: I dress pretty casual and the consultant found a randy for me that's pretty stretchy that I can wear as maternity shirt, so I bit the bullet! I really like the dresses but they are all way too long for me. I totally was eye-ing the Cassie and the maxi!

@snowjewelz: I saw one print on eBay for like 8k! I couldn't believe it!

As for LLR, I really love the Cassie skirts. Worth every penny to me. And the leggings are really nice quality for the price. I don't think the shirt was worth it, though.

I have both and use both regularly my four month old baby elephant is still a smidge too small to use the Tula without the insert. She's perfect in the ergo right now. My normal sized 17 month old is perfect in a standard Tula. I really like the higher back panel and the shape of the panel as well. I find it more cuddly.
I dislike using inserts, my kids have been too big for inserts and not strong enough to go straight in carriers as newborns so I do more wrapping/ring slings in the beginning.

We have an Ergo and a Tula--the Tula has a much longer life span! My spastic kid could lean WAY too far back in the Ergo early on, but now she's almost 17 months and 23 pounds and still loves being in her Tula. We didn't have it when she was teeny, so wore her in the Ergo with an insert early on. Next time, I'll likely try to finagle the Ergo insert in our Tula. :P

@snowjewelz: One of my good friends sells Lularoe...I have 2 Cassies (because they do wonders for my butt :silly: ), 3 pairs of leggings, and a Julia dress. I also work with her (she sits next to me), so I get an instant gratification rush when I buy something from her, because I can get it right away. Sigh.

I gots Tula, mostly because I found the cutest print and was in love. (Actually, I accidentally bought a toddler because I was so in love with the print that I didn't pay attention! But I tied it off and LO is super tall so it's fine. Now it will just last longer!) Can't vote because I haven't tried an ergo, but I loooove the Tula. I wear it every day.

I like Tula's for the patterns, but I've never worn one. I have an Ergo organic that was fine, but once she hit 2 and finally moved in to 2T clothes, it seems too small to be comfortable. If I invest in one, it's going to either be a toddler Tula or I'll have my wrap converted to a buckle carrier.

I have a wrap conversion mei tai, and I just love it and think it's incredibly supportive. I liked it far better than my Beco Soleil, which is a padded buckle carrier like both the Ergo and tula. But wrap fabric is a whole other animal from a regular fabric one.

If I were to get another buckle carrier I would hands down get a Tula, purely for the resale value. My Soleil was pretty comparable in price to a Tula, but I didn't love it (and people seem to LOVE Tulas) and I'll never get anywhere near what I paid for it, if I could even sell it at all.

I have an Ergo and a tall 15 month old. I'm not comfortable wearing her in the Ergo, I wish the back came up higher. I'm really tempted to sell my Ergo and buy a Tula. I would get a Tula instead if I could do it over again.

We have an Ergo 360 (and I love it) but if I were buying a SSC today I'd get a Tula. They're so pretty and I feel like they're the same in terms of quality. Plus I believe the Tulas may last longer (they may work better for toddlers) and have a better resale value? But that's just my impression and not based on any real evidence.

Also I wanted to add that I'm 5'2 and my husband is 6'2 and we both use the Ergo with no problems.

In general, I think all carriers fit like a pair of jeans. Some are more comfortable than others. I would definitely borrow one before you buy. Do you have a local babywearing group nearby with a lending library? My BWI group generally say people don't like Tula and there are others Kinderpack (?) that are more comfortable.

I think there is a huge Tula following and once you look at all the prints, you think you have to own them all. Then they see online stockings and they sell out. I think the craze drives you in. I've been there, but I started the woven wrap craze before I went all into Tula. Woven Wraps and Beco carriers won out for me. Becos were better for me because I'm petite. DH is not and a lot of men say they prefer Ergo. So that's why I got DH an Ergo.
