I'm listed on my Mom's BJ's account, so I don't have to pay a yearly fee. (lucky me) We used it primarily for diapers, wipes, and formula. Their meat and produce is good quality, too.

@Tanjowen: I forgot about gas also. Our Sam's Club does have gas which we often buy (when we don't have enough grocery points to buy at our grocery store discount gas station). And because I'm currently pregnant, I also forgot about tampons! Some things you don't want to run out of!

I'm meh on warehouse clubs- MIL gave us a Sam's membership that I used once, and my mom just bought us a Costco one that I may use a little more, but still I prefer to buy everything at Target. Do you have an Aldi nearby? I have started making myself go there for milk, cheese and cereal at the very least because it's sooooo much cheaper than anywhere else! The fruit is a little sketchy, haven't tried the meat.

@reyorra: Hmmm, I need to go do some pricing on some of those items. I have no problem with storage if it saves money in the long run.

@spaniellove: We found that bottles of wine were about the only thing we bought that was worthwhile :) I did see an offer for $30 for Coscto for a year's membership, so it might be worth it to switch to there and give it a try.

@shopaholic: I didn't even think about gas! That might be worth it all on it's own.

I got at Costco membership initially as a gift, but renew every year even though we don't buy a whole lot of things. The items I find worth it and why we renew:

1. Gas
2. Steaks & Fish - quality as well as price
3. Fruit
4. Vitamins and other OTC meds

And there are always various gems and deals to be found seasonally and randomly.

It really depends I think. We let our Costco membership run out because we never went back after the first visit, and the only thing that was worthwhile was the big pack of Ziplock bags. The $55 membership fee was way more than whatever we saved! We wish we'd used Amex points for the membership fee and if we decide to rejoin we'll do that.

We have had a Sam's Club membership for over 5 years and before that BJs (our choice is based purely on convenience to where we live). Here are the things we purchase there regularly: diapers, wipes, paper towels, toilet paper, laundry detergent, dishwasher detergent, garbage bags (2 sizes, kitchen and yard), bottled water. Of course, we have to have the room to store all this, so that might be something to consider. We also sometimes buy food items, although we don't go often enough to buy weekly consumables - mostly what we buy foodwise is frozen....

I have a membership gifted to me last Christmas at a local warehouse club, BJ's. It is set to expire soon, and to be honest, I went only twice this year and bought a handful of items. It's just the two of us plus our LO, and we purchase his diapers from Target and prefer their brand.

My question is this: Should I renew the membership for next year? With our LO getting older (turns 1 in December), are there things that I will need from there that are cheaper? The items that come to mind specifically are milk, cheese and perhaps meat. Any input from Bees that shop at warehouse clubs is very welcome!
