Also want to add - I made decent pocket money when I was active. I don't have any recruits or anything. I'm sure id make more if I did but, still decent side money! For hanging out and playing. I genuinely think it depends on the company - look into joining costs, fees, sales minimums etc.

Like others have said, if you're passionate about recruiting, go for it. Sales are not where anyone makes money. The success is found in how many others you get to join to company selling under you.

I am a consultant for pampered chef. I like it, plus it sells itself. (At least in my circles. Lol. )

I do Discovery Toys! I've obviously been way too sick to do much the last few months but it's pretty easy and straightforward. Not hard whatsoever and I don't harass
Anyone. I *would* caution you to not join a company with selling Minimums. Even if it seems doable I would imagine it's a little anxiety provoking if you wanna take time off, can't get parties, etc.

I have never done it and have no desire to. I know people who do and I have to hide them on my FB feed. Personally, I don't don't how many tote bags a person really needs...even though some of the designs are cute!

I've known a lot of people who have done them, and I do like some of the companies (31, arbonne, melaleuca) but the majority of the time the people selling them come across as really pushy, bordering on intrusive and it's a huge turn off. Some do it really well from both a social and business perspective! But I think it's a lot harder than all these consultants make it out to be.

@Mrs. Lion: That's my take, too. Half the females I went to high school with sell rodan + fields and they all constantly hound me to join under them. I think you really have to have no shame and to be a good hustler to make money that's worth it, but I know one has paid off her dental school loans within 2 years, and another quit her job as did her husband because they made so much more money than they were. I don't have that sort of personality, though.

I havent, but from what I have heard to be successful you have to go into it knowing that your job isn't selling products, it is recruiting and training other sellers who will recruit and train. I've also heard it's difficult to make any real money doing it part time and that you have to be really committed.

I haven't done it, but I am definitely a supporter. I feel like, if that's your hustle, then get at it. We shouldn't be discouraging one another. I just don't have the drive to go out and market myself like you have to do with those things. A good friend of my mom's sells Thirty One & it produces some nice side income for her. I have a couple of Thirty One totes and stuff, and I really like them!

Like for Mary Kay, or Thirty-One or something like that?

I went to a Thirty-One party today, and the consultant called me a bit ago to ask if I'd ever consider being a consultant. She said she thought I had the right presence and personality for it, and she knew that she'd kick herself if she didn't at least call me.

It's nothing I ever really thought about? I know several women I work with are Mary Kay consultants (mostly through just catalogs). I always sort of thought working those sorts of places was sorta pyramid-schemey though?

Has anyone done it? Recommend it? Want to tell me to never answer her calls again, lol?
