Same here with the soup. My MIL's soup is basically leftover takeout in hot water. My parents a such chinese soup snobs though and that's what I grew up with.
But I'll let the kids have it because we only see them when we visit. Just that when the kids don't want it, for whatever reason, I don't push it.

Not really...I make sure she eats healthy, and buy organic when I can but that's not going to be possible the rest of her life, so I am open to other options now and then.

Meh...not really. I feel like it's ok to let him try most stuff once (except for the really sweet junk food), but I don't make a habit of giving him these foods. It is important to me that it's ME giving him these foods rather than his grandparents though!

Not really. I try to feed him as healthy as possible and he eats mostly organic produce and meats. But I let him eat what we are eating and he's definitely had pizza and french fries. And Annie's Mac n Cheese.

I'm a snob about certain things. I don't give him chicken nuggets or anything fried. I do let him have sweets once in a while, but the nanny asked if she could give him some of her lucky charms cereal and I said no because I don't want it to become a habit.

I know certain family members see me as one. We make special trips to Whole Foods to buy her everything organic and I steam and purée everything myself. I like that there is nothing mysterious in what I give her and that its the freshest of the fresh foods.

@regberadaisy: I make my chicken soup the same way. I feel using fresh chicken on the bone makes the soup taste better.

I dont think I'm a snob, I let DD eat what we eat. DH on the other hand scolded me for giving her a little bit of popeyes LOL

I was until recently. Now I try to do 80% organic and let the other 20% be whatever. He ate Chik Fil A nuggets yesterday for lunch. I'm sure he'll survive.

@mediagirl: I make soup for him this way all the time, too, especially since soup is the only way to get veggies in him.

I have food snob tendencies, but I've tried to relax quite a bit. If it doesn't harm her, it's okay. She'll get plenty of good food at home :)

Yes, but we have to be in our situation...actually I would be anyway. Even if hecould eat it, we would use nothing jarred/canned/prepared. It grosses me out to begin with.

I used to be...organic or local foods only, but I've found it difficult to keep up with that once his toddler pickiness set in.

Chicken nuggets all the way now.

@mediagirl: I think Chinese/Asian culture makes soup very differently! When I make soup I take a fresh chicken add carrots & celery and simmer on low for 1.5-2hours!

@regberadaisy: Hmmm. That's how I make soup.....

I won't let her have anything sweet right now. I also don't like what daycare feeds the kids so I'll probably keep sending her breakfast for a while. Other than that, not really.

I totally am!!!

ie the one time when LO was sick MIL made "soup" and gave us some to take home. I tasted the soup first and she basically shredded rotisserie chicken, added carrots & celery and boiled for 30 minutes. I would not give any to M; that's not "soup"!
ETA: I hope no one is offended! Soup is just different in my culture.

But I'm trying to be better about it. :P
