I cannot cook at all. The only way I can is if I follow a recipe. It's so bad. I wish I could cook, though. I think I have unhealthy eating habits because I cannot whip anything up quickly enough.

I think I'm a good cook. I learned to cook because I had to have dinner ready for my parents before I could go out during high school! I'm good at making both Korean and other foods... I'd love to learn how to cook like a chef!

I am a decent cook I would say but I guess I judge myself too harshly because other people always enjoy my food much more than I do.

I'm not that artistic or crafty, so cooking has become a creative outlet for me. I learned by trial and error (and the occasional fire) and slowly I've become a pretty good cook. I also watched a lot of Foodnetwork shows and to be honest, I learned a lot of little tips from those shows esp. from folks like the Barefoot Contessa

My only gripe is that I hate thinking about WHAT TO COOK, so much so that I created a google doc of all the tings I know how to cook. This way, I can just choose something from my arsenal.

I'm a pretty good cook. We tend to eat fairly light and simple meals most of the time, but I can do fancier stuff too. I think I'm good at putting a balanced plate together.

I'm an ok cook. I can follow a recipe. I think my problem is my hubby can't take a lot of flavor and spice because of his sensitive tummy, so cooking isn't exciting for me.

Even though I grew up in a restaurant (literally -- I lived on the 2nd floor), I had no common sense when it came to cooking. My husband cooked most meals in the beginning of our relationship, and I slowly got better and better. Fun tidbit... I actually followed Mrs. Bee's Korean Cooking Xanga years ago, and I made recipes from her blog. It was one of the first ones I started following, and blogs made me more comfortable in the kitchen. After a few years of trying out recipes, I can say that I am a decent cook -- well decent enough that I cook most of the meals at home. So pretty much Mrs. Bee has been my go to source for cooking, weddings, and now family life. :)

I'm a good cook, but I hate the planning, shopping, and prepping with cooking. I used to hate the cleanup as well, but I don't mind it so much anymore. Now that I have a few easy dishes that I try to keep the ingredients on hand for, I don't mind cooking as much anymore.

I'm a pretty good cook. I tend to get complimented when I cook for someone, and my husband has never complained. I learned to cook with trial and error. The more I learned about real food the better I became at cooking as well.

I learned to cook from my mom and both grandmas as well as being in 4-H. I think I'm a pretty good cook. I do prefer having a recipe to at least use as a starting point and then I make modifications from there.

My husband routinely jokes that he's happy he married me and not my sister because she doesn't cook. She grew up learning how and was taught the same way as me but she just doesn't enjoy it and never does it.

I like cooking but am not a good cook. I'm good at following recipes but I can't just whip stuff up with what's in the fridge. I'm better at cooking Chinese home cooked meals from years of watching my mom cook as a kid. I also tend to over cook meat/poultry for the fear of it being underdone. I like baking much more.

Like Chopsuey119, I've been cooking since I was a young child. I was always a picky eater and my mother always told me if I didn't want what she put on the table I was free to cook my own meal. And I did. Thankfully I eat most foods now and I still LOVE to cook!

Learned from watching my mom, experimenting on my own, watching the food network.
I love to cook and bake!

I love to bake, but I hate cooking! I burn grilled cheeses if that's any indication haha. DH cooks and I wash dishes/clean up. It works well for us. I hate looking at/touching meat and I'm always scared I'll get burned while cooking.

I'm a pretty good cook! I've been cooking since I was a kid, as the oldest of 4 in a single-parent household, my sister (who is one year younger than me) and I cooked many meals for the family. My mother mostly handled weekend meals, but she worked 2 jobs to support us, so the sis and I were the week day cooks.

I used to experiment a lot and made some nasty meals when I was younger. But now I don't need to use recipes. I'll usually check out a couple of recipes if it's something new and then I improvise as I go along. People always ask me how to make certain dishes and I can't really tell them how because I don't really measure, I just know :)

One of my specialties is making meals when there's barely anything in the cupboards (I guess you learn how to improvise when you grow up poor). The dishes that my friends/family usually ask me to make for gatherings are baked macaroni & cheese, spinach artichoke dip, my bacon and cheese biscuits, hot italian sausage pasta, chili, and buffalo wings.

But I'm not good at baking.

I really like cooking but I especially enjoy baking and am good at both but most of the time my DH cooks because he is a chef. I do a lot of the prep work and clean up for him :) It works out pretty well for us.

I'm pretty confident in my cooking abilities. My husband doesn't cook much, and doesn't eat much unless he's fed. When I was little, I wanted to be a caterer. Learned a little bit growing up, then a roommate in the Army cooked mostly organic food with lots of veggies which convinced me that my mom was wrong and veggies are, in fact, not evil. Since then, it's been trial and error - but last year, I used a different recipe almost every day, with only 2 or 3 failures (and only one that I threw out). It's like art, only with taste and smell as the primary senses.

I agree that it tastes better when someone else makes it! I'm ok at cooking, I don't enjoy it either. I'll cook comfort food, but that's all I know how to make for "dinner", but I bake and can make breakfast foods. My husband is amazing in the kitchen. I don't know how he does it but he can make gourmet meals out of nothing. He said he learned it by watching Food Network - haha

I am a decent cook when it comes to Korean food, not so much American food. I just don't find cooking enjoyable because I hate eating my own food. It always tastes better when someone else makes it!
