I think I am, but only with low-maintenance friendships. I will be a listening ear/support when I'm needed, and I'll make an effort to make plans when I can/when we're in the same place, but my best friendships are ones where we can go a long time without keeping in touch but get together and pick right up where we left off. Like, my bff is someone I've known since middle school, but we went to different high schools and then lived in different states for 8 years: we kept in touch when we could, but not daily, weekly, or even monthly. Even now, we live in the same city (though 45 min train ride away) and sometimes go like a month without hanging out. Some of it is being busy, some is it is being long-distance from some of my closest friends, and some of it is being guarded because of the friendship break-up I wrote about in the other thread, but in any case, this is what works for me now!

I try to be. I like making plans to hang out and am always here to listen. It's easier to be a good friend to the people who aren't long distance.

I try hard to be a good friend.. Usually I'm the one making the effort and getting bitter about it so I'm learning to let go and just let people know I'm here when they need me...

Very similar. If a friend needs me in any way, I am there 100%. I don't reach out to them though. When I try, I feel like I'm bothersome and avoid doing it. Plus I'm pretty shy and introverted.

Ha, the friend breakup thread makes me think no, but I would say I am the same way @Mrs. Bee:. I am horrible at making plans/staying in contact with people, but I try to be supportive and will do just about anything for my friends!

I hope so! Though I agree, it's really hard to be a good friend when the people you care most about are spread all over the country. I miss my friends an awful lot!

Yes and no. A lot of my friends turn to me when they need help, and they know that I'm always there for them. I am fiercely loyal.

But... I am horrible about making an effort to hang out, keep in touch, etc. I just live in my own world sometimes. Most of the time it's my friends making the effort, making plans, etc. I need to do better on that front.

Overall I think I'm a decent friend because you can definitely depend on me for anything. But I do need to make more of an effort!

What about you?
