Nope. I usually would get up at least 2 times to use the bathroom. Then I toss and turn a lot. It has gotten worse since pregnant.

@Mrs. Bee: What a coincidence. I woke up at 12am last night and wasn't able to sleep because I was worried sick about my baby's vomiting / not eating. Since i can't sleep anyway I got up at 2am and worked until 3-ish am, and went back to sleep. Then LO cried at 4am and I gave him a bottle (he's been sick so he didn't eat much during the day), cried again at 5-6am and gave him another bottle. So ended up I think I slept for 3 hours (I went to bed at 8:30pm (!) and fell asleep at 9-ish) last night and I am not even tired.

I used to be a pretty good sleeper.... not anymore since the birth of my son. Nowadays I am afraid of bedtime because I don't know if I would just lay there wide awake for hours listening to my husband's snore. The reason why I can't fall asleep is because I am always afraid I won't be able to hear LO if he cries, but the truth is usually I'd snap right back to consciousness even if he makes a slight sound (via the baby monitor).

I'm good at falling asleep (though I always listen to sports talk radio to distract my mind as I drift off), but I can't fall back asleep in the AM - if I wake up, I'm up.

Not really. I'm a super light sleeper so pretty much any noise wakes me up, it took forever to fall asleep (since learned some breathing & relaxation methods that help) and I really only slept well under ideal conditions-as dark as possible + preferably a fan to circulate air, or at least a sound machine (we actually bought a small fan for traveling).

Now that I have DS I can usually fall asleep pretty much immediately no matter where I am just because I'm so tired. Still not sleeping in long stretches, but I have an infant...

DH has always fallen asleep in an instant and slept hard. DS sleeps in our room and I don't think him crying at night has ever woken up DH. Even the screaming crying. I hate him for it a little bit :)

@Mrs. Bee: i guess this is why you posted this at 4am?!

i'm a really good sleeper...i can literally fall asleep anywhere in nearly any position. i once fell asleep at a club (and i had only had 1 drink!) with all that music playing. i just curled up on a couch and fell asleep. (my friends sat next to me the whole time) i've also fallen asleep sitting on my backpack against the window on a train!

I used to be like Mr Bee, but since having DD, I have such a hard time sleeping. I find myself taking OTC sleep aids some nights just to get a couple hours of uninterrupted sleep.

I always joke with DH that sleeping is one of my greatest strengths in life :) I am a very good, sound sleeper. I think maybe part of it is that I'm pretty good with compartmentalization of my life so I don't wake up and get consumed with thoughts. I don't know. Maybe it's just an inherent part of me...my mother loves to brag that I slept through the night from the time I was 10 days old.

Having a newborn is going to be TOUGH for me!

I can sleep at any time, but it's not restful sleep. I toss and turn a lot and wake up more grouchy and unrested than before. The past two nights have been nightmares for me. Sigh.

Yes! I've always been a good sleeper. Even as a baby. Luckily, LO seems to have gotten my sleep genes so far. DH is a good sleeper now, but according to his mother, he rarely slept for the first 2-3 years of his life. I'm terrified that we'll have one of those one day :)

No.....I go through periods where I have terrible insomnia. It got better right after baby because I was sooooo tired but then around 4.5/5 months post partum I started up with it again. I started taking unisom again but then decided that I shouldn't be relying on an over the counter sleep aid so regularly. So I stopped using it a few weeks ago. I love to sleep, but am not very goo at it.

I have a terrible time falling asleep. Like you my mind races. But once I'm asleep I have no trouble staying asleep. My husband is like Mr Bee. He can sleep any where and is out as soon as his head hits the pillow. I swear it's like he has an awake/asleep button he can just press. Any time we fly he's out before take off and doesn't wake up until the wheels touch the ground!

Not at all. When I wasn't pregnant, I would average about 4-5 hours of sleep a night and that wasn't even consistent sleep. I've tried all the sleep meds, but nothing really works. Now I get about 2 hours of sleep a night between dealing with reflux, pelvic pains, and having to pee every 5 minutes. Hopefully that will get better!!! DH is like MrBee, he can sleep anywhere at anytime. Makes me so mad sometimes!

I've never been a good sleeper. I remember having trouble falling asleep as young as 2 and it's been something I've struggled with my entire life. I can lay in bed for hours trying to fall asleep because my mind is always racing, so I have to watch tv to zone out.

It got a little better when I became a parent because I was so tired, but the problem I've been having since Olive was born has been dozing off for a couple minutes when I'm nursing and then not being able to sleep for hours, or waking up in the middle of the night and not being able to go back to sleep for hours (like now).

I would love to be a better sleeper, and hope I don't pass my insomnia and sleep issues down to the kids!

Mr Bee is an excellent sleeper and can fall asleep anywhere and as soon as his head hits the pillow. Jealous.
