@anonysquire: Nope. Not here at least. It's really no cheaper than most gyms. But it does have a lot of family-related programming.

I don't even know if we have one close? I was kind of under the impression it was like a service for low money families?

Yep. Ours also has childcare, which I really should take advantage of more now that LO is older. We tried once before and he started screaming once we were gone for a few minutes ... and they have a 10-minute rule -- LO can't be calmed in 10 mins, the parent gets called back!

I've taken/enjoyed Zumba there. I need to get back to it. Recently I've just been walking a lot with LO because I love the fall weather so much.

Nope. I do join my city's local community center and it's awesome! they have 5 of them and we can go to anyone we like. Each one offers something a little different, and the extra programs are usually much cheaper than joining elsewhere. Plus the membership is only like $60 per YEAR. yay! some even have indoor and outdoor pools that resemble a water park, and a wadding area for babies to just sit in the water and splash!

@HeatherlovesKenny: @Coco Bee: Our Y offers free child care as well. I was a member for a while. I recently cancelled mine so my husband and I can join a crossfit gym together. I liked the Y. I paid $35 a month for just me and took lots of group exercise classes.

@HeatherlovesKenny: what!?!? I guess it must be offered depending on the different Y's? that's is a huge bummer.

@Coco Bee: free child care? At our YMCA we have to pay for punch cards to use the child care facility :(

We were members but canceled for a 24 hour gym so we could get more use out of it. But by the time the LO's are in bed and DH is home...I'm tired so...we canceled that membership too. I might go back to the Y if they offer free child care!

@MrsBrewer: @Mrsbells: how is it so cheap for you guys?!!

The family membership is like $120 where I live. However, we get a significant discount because it's based on our income, so we pay less than $70/mo. DS takes swimming lessons there which is an additional $40 for seven weeks.

I love it because it has free childcare - and no other gym in our area does. And it's a really high-quality childcare system. I have come to "know" many of the childcare workers.

Also they offer a ton of fitness classes and I am more motivated to do those than work out on my own.

Once DS gets older there are family fitness classes, and events that he can be involved in so that's something to look forward to.

I love it :)

Yeah its $80 for a family membership here. Its pricey and we dont have much time to go there often. I wish they would just let us stop by without membership and pay per use

My husband joined the entire family one day without asking me. He thought it seemed like a great idea for the whole family. It was, But the swim classes didn't work out for DD and other kid classes start at age 5 (she's 4). She doesn't like going to the babysitting area while I work out, although LO doesn't care since he's so small. Also They close early for me.. I had much better luck at 24 hr fitness in terms of my own workouts.

I've been getting lots of flyers in my mail about signing up for mommy baby swim classes and other events at my local YMCA, I was surprised to see how expensive it is though for yearly membership. I was also surprised at all the different events that have! I guess I didnt realize YMCA's were so advanced these days.
