@mrbee: Sounds like you and the Mrs. have a good balance...!

I think it's a balance for us as well. We try to do a lot of preparation and contingency planning to deal with the elaborate scenarios of the next day (whether it be mapping out pick-up/drop-off for daycare, or packing the right stuff for a tricky road-trip... anything that interrupts his ideal schedule). As the day unfolds, we take turns playing both roles, one being the worrier, the other being the "you're overworrying again, stay positive" voice of reason (who plays who seems to depend heavily on who is more tired that day).

This system seems to have helped us survive... on most days. Generally we try our best not to worry at all beyond what we're able to prepare for. It's about trying to stay sane: a sane parent is an effective parent.

(I've noticed that this only applies to the day-to-day worrying... forget about worrying past the next day or so: it's hard to even consider that there's a good decade or two of this parenting stuff that lies ahead. Can't even start to worry about that...)

I am a big worrier. I tend to worry about everything, even things that haven't happened yet. My husband has to remind me that it hasn't happened and I should stop worrying about things I can't control in the first place.

I think most of us worry about the things out of our complete control which actually is quite normal!!!

I used to worry a lot more than I do now - I guess at some point I just "realized" that what I was doing wasn't really very useful to myself - or healthy. I worry about realistic concerns and try to make sure I'm prepared in case of various outcomes. I worry less about pregnancy than I thought I would. Everyone is different, and you can easily spend all your time googling and making yourself sick with stress - I just try to take everything in stride. I'm not always successful, but im a lot more laid back and happier than I used to be.

I worry about things in general. I don't think it is a good habit to have and my husband has been trying to help me let go of things out of my control.

I'm a worrier as a pregnant woman. It's such an unknown experience to me, so anything different freaks me out. As my morning sickness increases (threw up at dinner tonight), it actually makes me feel better about this whole thing. I just want a healthy, sticky baby, so the worries seem natural though at times a bit too much.

Yes but I think I worry about things worth worrying about, too. I feel, as a parent, there are so many things to worry about that it is best not to drive yourself nuts. So I worry a healthy amount I think.

I recently stayed up all night worrying that my lo was cold. I gave myself a migraine from lack of sleep and worrying.

I constantly worry about her. I'm pretty sure I'm supposed to though, I'm a Jewish mother!

I don't worry about much. In a lot of ways, this makes me a much less effective parent than my wife. On the other hand though, I don't spend a lot of energy worrying about things that aren't so likely to happen. I do plan and create scenarios, but not nearly as much as I could.

So as long as the unlikely things don't happen, I guess I'm good? But if they do happen, then it's good that I married a worrier! I mean, an obsessive planner. :-)

Do you worry about your LO? Do you think through all possible scenarios that might happen, and then plan for them?
