Ours is nut free and I completely understand/support that policy.

My friend's son went to a relatively small daycare where none of the children had nut allergies and peanuts were allowed. Her son was about 14 months and she hasn't tried peanuts with him yet. A new staff member accidentally gave him a PB sandwich (lunch was provided there) and he had a reaction. I think it's just better for parents to provide nuts at home.

LO's day care center is a nut & egg free facility. But we're allowed to use eggs and peanut butter IN stuff. But no tree nuts in food either.

DS goes to a nut free daycare. It is a bigger place so I don't know if there are kids with nut allergies, but I have to say it is probably just easier that way.

K is going to a small in home daycare, and the food is all provided. There was no mention of being peanut free, so I'm assuming none of the kids have allergies.

My centre is big, so I figure they keep it nut free because there are new kids coming in all the time and it's easier to be nut-free than make sure parents change their habits mid-way. I think it's the same for the schools in the area too.

The center i used to work in was nut free regardless of allergies. Its so hard to avoid contamination with the little ones and it keeps one family from feeling singled out....it can be uncomfortable if a rule changes when a new child shows up. A lot of families switched to sun butter instead and the kiddos didnt know the difference.

It's a family daycare with three kids, so I think she's flexible, but DS is allergic to peanuts, so obviously it's nut-free now  Just wanted to say how much I appreciate everyone being supportive of their daycares' no nut policy. Clearly DS's health and safety is priority number one, but I don't like inconveniencing others.

It's a nut-free facility, regardless of whether there are kids with allergies or not. It's a fairly large center so I'd imagine there are at least a few kids with nut allergies, though I don't know for sure.

We are allowed to bring nuts but a LO in my son's room is allergic to tree nuts, peanuts, and sesame. There is a sign to inform the teachers if you have brought anything containing these items, so I stay clear. I figure it's their way of sort of discouraging nuts without being "nut free".

I don't know if there are peanut allergies, they're not allowed to share that kind of information. So it might just be a blanket rule, it might be because of specific kids, not sure!

We were told no peanuts, no mention of a specific allergy in his class. I think it's just a precaution/way to make those with an allergy feel more secure about sending their kid if there's a clear rule.

LO will be attending a small day care facility (about 12 kids max, and 2-3 teachers) and in the literature they sent home it notes that there are absolutely no nuts allowed in the facility due to allergies.

I inquired as to the level of the allergy (ie if she had peanuts the night before or for breakfast and there were trace amounts somewhere would it be an issue for this child) and was advised that none of the kids are allergic to peanuts that they're aware of, and it's just a precaution.

So, I'm curious how many others aren't allowed nuts when there's no known allergy?
