I'm somewhat anal about it for the same reason you are. If he doesn't get it, the rest of the day is difficult for everyone. So I'd rather be home for that mid-day nap!

I prefer being at home but she is pretty flexible and she can take a long nap or skip it and be ok.

yes! at almost 4 we still schedule days around naps. But we can do car naps for Wagon Jr. which helps with being out and about. LMW not so much, so we stay home a lot! It's temporary though... soon enough they won't have a nap at all and we'll be begging for a break in the middle of the day ;)

yes, but my son's nap is a little later, so it's easier to do something in the morning.

My 21 month old naps once a day, usually from 11:30 - 1:30. She sleeps the best in her crib so I always try to be home for her nap, and 99% of the time, I'm able to do that. This weekend, though, we were out and about - children's museum, lunch with friends, etc - and she didn't get to nap at her usual time. She napped for about 30 minutes in the car but that definitely wasn't enough, and while she held up decently, she was definitely cranky and didn't sleep well at all at night.

A lot of people think I'm kinda crazy because I am so protective of her naptime, but she is just so much happier (and so am I!) when she is well-rested. It's just hard to do a lot on the weekends when we have to be home right in the middle of the day :(
