DH describes himself as fiscally conservative and socially liberal, but makes a point not to call himself Republican. I have always aligned myself with the Democrats. DH has definitely become more liberal since we have been married.

DH grew up in a Republican family, but both of us are more moderate. We're fiscally conservative, socially liberal; and we don't align 100% to any party.

I don't think either of us are 100% aligned with one political party. I would say that we lean more towards one party by nature. The most important thing for us is that we share the same faith and all our worldviews form/stem from our faith first and foremost.

We are both registered independent/unenrolled. DH is pretty much Dem though. I don't agree with either party really but usually vote Democrats because I have bigger issues with the Republicans. So we normally vote the same but don't necessarily agree on all the issues.

Well most of the time we are both registered as Democrats. I vote more conservatively on local elections and liberally for national elections. I just switched my registration to R for this election, mostly so I could vote for my preferred state senate candidate. But honestly, when DH talks about his political opinions, he is absolutely not a democrat. But he mostly doesn't vote so....

For the most part. We are both "unenrolled" according to NY state law meaning that we are not members of a political party, although I tend to vote Democratic since there are not other options that reflect my political leanings. DH is much more liberal now than when we met. I would consider him center-left especially with his pro-business leanings. We are both considering becoming Democrats since we disenfranchise ourselves in local politics by not having party affiliations because we can't vote in primaries and live in such a Democrat dominated city .

Yes, we are both members of the same political party. Our politics is also tied to our basic moral code and beliefs, so I would have a hard time marrying someone who vastly differed politically for the same reason I would have a hard time marrying someone who was really religious (I'm not).

I would not, and did not, date a man who wasn’t pro-choice. That’s a deal-breaker for me.

I"m a pretty vocal Democrat, he's a uninterested Republican. We can get pretty heated if/when we discuss politics. I feel like he he can be vocal for someone who is uneducated on what is going on (not in a mean way, he's a very smart man, he just doesn't follow politics/look into stuff.) Nothing drives me more nuts than when someone will fight politics but only reads the headlines and does no research ;) We butt heads! ha

Yes. Our political beliefs are very important to both of us so I don't think we could have been in meaningful relationships with people who held vastly contrasting views. We don't agree on every issue - we had a huge debate last night about the "snoopers charter", which ended in him announcing that I was "just basically wrong" - but we both lean left.

We are both "unenrolled" which means we can vote in either primary. And we are both pretty much in the middle but he leans republican and I lean democrat. So basically when we go vote together in the general election we cancel each other out- but I make him go anyway.

This election has put us much closer to the same page. I'm a true liberal. He's socially liberal but has mostly supported republicans in the past. But weirdly we are both HRC this election. He never ends up voting though...and here in CA it doesn't really matter (at least in the past) because the elections are never close.

DH was a registered Republican for most of his adult life and I am a registered Democrat. Since moving to California, DH has been a registered independent and I'm thinking of becoming one as well.

Essentially, DH and I on the same page 99% of the time. I guess we're just more comfortable in our parties of origin? Like, if it came down to it, I'd rather err towards the side of government intervention and DH would err towards less government.

But we generally don't feel either party really reflects our values anymore, so I guess that's where we are.

I have been a card carrying Democrat since I learned about American government (I remember being in 3rd grade and voting for Bill Clinton in the elementary school mock election). My husband used to be conservative/Republican because that is what his family is, but I taught him better hahahaha. Our daughter's favorite book is about unions and she likes to "march like suffragettes". She is two. I'd say we have become a pretty united family lol.
