My parents were really similar with a few differences: My dad was a "realist" (ie, more pessimistic) and my mom is a fountain of optimism. They were pretty much the same in other areas though---like, how social they were, discipline, ideals, values, etc.

My husband and I are really similar in most ways (I think), but he'd probaly say we are opposites. We have similar values and similar energy levels (like, we tend to both want to stay home a lot or both want to get out and do something). But we do have differences in religion, some cultural things, and language. haha. But in the day-to-day things, we are similar. If that makes sense.

We are very, very similar, which often causes friction! My mom and dad were very much opposites, though. My mom was a fiery Italian lady who would get all worked up then be fine 10 minutes later. My dad is a more laid-back, not as emotional guy who would explode with anger (not in a bad way, you know what I mean) maybe once or twice a year. It worked well because when my mom would go off, my dad would just laugh at her and it diffused things instead of escalating into an argument.

My in-laws are very different, but that didn't work out as well.

Hubby and I are opposites of each other, but we share the same morales and ethics so we balance out each other perfectly!!

My parents are opposites also.

I would say we are different but not completely opposite. I'm very much independent and an optimist as well as very libral in my thinking, whereas DH is more dependent on me and tends to be more of a pessimist and very conservative. We are both outgoing talkers, however since LO we have become more homebodies and are both okay with that. We are both family oriented and have the same religious views. We balance each other out (and but heads) which keeps things interesting! ha

We are complete opposites, but balance each other out. It's perfect.

I'm extremely Type A. Everything has to have a place. I'm a creative, and think outside the box. I take risks, and think into the future. I'm a big picture kind of person. I truly enjoy hosting and going to parties. I'm very outgoing. i tend to be pessimistic. I'm business savvy, and handle the majority of our cash flow and investments.

My husband is very scientific and factual. He doesn't take risks, and is very conservative. He's more quiet and reserved, and would prefer to stay at home than to be in a large crowd. He thinks short term rather than long term. He tends to be more optimistic than me. He puts a lot of thought and research into purchases, where as I would purchase on a whim.

We share similar interests, like music, tv shows, and we both enjoy traveling. We share the same life goals.

We definitely balance each other out!!

Also different and the same. I'm the dreamer and he's the realist. I have tons of patience and he has none. I'm an introvert and he's an extrovert.

But we are both sports loving nerds with the same sense of humor. We have similar interests except we differ when it comes to the arts. I love plays, art exhibitions, etc and that stuff bores him.

My husband & I are alike in lots of ways, but just different enough to keep things interesting! ;)

My parents are also quite similar.

DH and I are very, very alike. We look alike (pale skin, dark hair, geeky glasses, we even gain and lose weight together). We are both Jewish. We both have chronic health issues. We don't drink, smoke, party, etc. and we like to be in bed by ten. This was before LO too. We're both very family oriented. Of course there are some differences, but for the most part we're very similar.

My parents are opposites. My mom is very active and social, and my dad prefers to sit and watch his crappy tv shows or read at the book store. My mom could never just sit there for that long doing nothing.

My parents are total opposites. My mom is out going, funny, clever and is s boat to be around. My dad tells long stories, very opinionated, and talks about boring stuff. People are so confused as to how my dad nagged my mom.

DH and I have some similarities. We are both home bodies and do not require a large circle. He is sarcastic and mean, whereas I just say the wrong thing. He is an extrovert, I am an introvert. We both like being the best, but he is more competitive. Our hobbies differ, but we are ooen to each other's interests.

We are different but the same :)

I am more of the academic, nerdy, optimist but overly cautious. DH is more relaxed, spontaneous, and mechanically/street smart. We have the same humour (we are ALWAYS going out of our way to make the other person laugh..we are constantly laughing in our house), We enjoy many of the same things (playing sports,camping,concerts..etc...)

I think we have a good balance and have great things to offer one another. Gah! I love that hunk of man meat!

In most ways we're opposites, but in the important ways we're similar. Dan is very reserved & cautious, while I am outgoing & free-spirited. He is a pessimist, and I am an optimist. He's a homebody, I prefer to go out & see/do new things. We have the same core beliefs & the same priorities though. And, we both have the same silly/weird sense of humor, which is good, because no one else would appreciate either of us.

I do think marriage has drawn each of us closer to the middle though -- for example, I enjoy staying home more now, and he likes doing new things as a family.

Mr. Bee and I have a lot of things in common, but there are some big areas where we are opposites. For instance I am a pessimist and he is an optimist, and that really affects our day to day lives because we work together. The way we look at things is so different! I wouldn't go so far as to say we're opposites though.

My parents are total opposites though. My mom's the oldest child, my dad's the youngest child. My dad is chatty, my mom is taciturn. My dad's an optimist, my mom's a pessimist. They are really quite opposite but I think they balance each other out.

What about you and your SO? What about your parents?
