My boss is a 50 year old man but he's really supportive. As long as I approach things in a very matter-of-fact way, it's great. When I told him that I wanted to pump when I came back, his reply was to be wholly supportive. His assistant is a girl my age, and she and I have both had some seriously TMI conversations, made especially funny by the fact that my husband comes over at the most random of times (like Wednesday when we were discussing charting to avoid pregnancy and disliking birth control). The downside is that while most of her advice is useful for my wife as mum, it's sometimes not so useful for me as dad. For example I let him know my daughter was having eating issues and we would be having more doctor's appointments than usual for us to figure it out. Although, really, he's more DH's boss since I only work during the busy parts of the year. But he's like the dad I never had and we've been working for him a couple of years now and have outlasted several other employees. Of course, we go to the same church and have a lot in common, so yeah, suffice it to say, we're pretty close. My life is so hectic with medical appointments for me and dh that if anyone else came in as a supervisor they would think I was crazy! She is super supportive &amp; only twice in 5 years have I been denied time off. I've mentioned personal issues with my DH's health but I can't seem to read her sometimes. I feel like she doesn't care. I mean she will say she's sorry but some of the body language she gives off makes it seem like she doesn't. </p> <p>So because of that I keep things strictly work related. </p>
