@cmomma17: Same! :( I'm in charge of the relish tray, so I'm just going to bring delicious healthy snacks to hopefully curb my appetite for all the bad stuff

LO is dairy sensitive, so that cuts out pretty much all the fun foods for me. So I'm bringing a big salad (with roasted squash, pomegranate seeds, avocado, and almonds) and a green bean dish with vinaigrette. Pretty healthy! I am going to try my hand at a paleo pumpkin pie so I get some of the good stuff!

@Arden: mmmmm. Cheeeeeese.

I don't mind using healthier ingredients in dishes but I'm only doing the turkey, gravy, stuffing, creamed corn, and apple pie. My brother and sil are doing all the other sides and he is really picky, so I'm sure everything will be butter-laden... And delicious!!

@Arden: love this!! butter makes everything better :)

I don't count calories on holidays. i'm making sauteed green beans and mashed potatoes, and there's a reason they will taste so good.

I heard on the radio that the average American consumes the equivalent of 3 sticks of butter in fat on Thanksgiving day, along with something over 4000 calories!

So, we're having decently healthy meal of Turducken, brussels sprouts, corn casserole (light on the cream), green salad and mashed sweet potatoes. I am really making an effort not to use food as the glue for family gatherings, but I have to start small to make any changes.

Dh's family doesnt' do healthy. But i'm bringing the veggie tray with homemade ranch (mayo and greek yogurt) so it's a decent light option, but I'm also bringing paula deen's corn casserole and i'm adding jalapenos and bacon to it. Soooo not healthy.

Healthy food is not invited to my Thanksgiving meals. I just finished morning sickness at more than halfway through this pregnancy- I am going to PIG OUT!

We aren't cooking and I am super excited! We are getting a cranberry hazelnut en croute instead of a turkey (pesco vegetarians) from our local organic coop and a vegan pumpkin pie they have that is amazing and we might make a green bean casserole with whole wheat sourdough crutons flavored with nutritional yeast and herbs instead of fried onions... so yes! I love healthy food when it is delicious!

Let's see. I'm signed up to make:

Green bean casserole
Pecan pie
Caramel-pecan cheesecake
Apple pie
Sweet potato dinner rolls
Regular dinner rolls

All the pies will be mini-pies made in a muffin tin, but I don't think that makes them any healthier ;)

I just choose to believe that calories don't count on holidays!

Nah, I wouldn't worry about counting calories on thanksgiving. I'd be more likely to just make a meal with heavy and lighter options, so that everyone could choose how calorically rich they wanted their meal to be.

We had Thanksgiving with friends last year and we're spending our Thanksgiving with them again this year.

Last year I made super unhealthy but super delicious corn casserole and green bean casserole (Paula Deen recipes). They were a hit so I'm thinking about making them again, along with this cranberry jello salad that I have been making for years and love.

Nothing healthy, but calories don't count on holidays! :)

Are you cooking healthy? Eating healthy?
