Happened after my first pregnancy around 5 months. I was in a fog, looking after my two under two. Suddenly I realized I needed belts for pants I'd never needed prior. With exercise and lots of breastfeeding (baby didn't sleep thru night till 14 months) I managed to stay slim until I got pregnant again. This second time the weight didn't "fall"'off quite so quickly but with some calorie tracking, exercise and body sculpting, I lost the baby weight just before six months and look and feel stronger and fitter than ever. I'll still breast feed exclusively for a while. Love that it's a calorie burner and menstrual cycle suppressant. Not dealing with monthly hormones is a great weight regulator.

@Lindsay05: I thought that too, but I weighed myself this.morning and am down four pounds! I'm not sick yet either, just not as hungry, I guess? Who knows? I'm sure it isn't so bad as you think!

Um...not pleasantly shocked, no :) my weight hasn't changed, but my body type has way too much :( pants never fit me right anymore. I've lost most of the junk in my trunk but kept my hip/belly size so I have dumpy butt in all pants. H o t.

Yep, I had that same experience a couple of weeks ago! Through the process of moving, I hadn't stepped on the scale in a few weeks and my jaw about hit the floor when it said 59.1 kg (130 lbs)! I'm 5'8 so my usual happy weight is around 136, give or take a few pounds. I've been ravenous lately so I've been eating a ton, and I was grumpy that none of my shorts stayed up without a belt, so I've managed to put on a few pounds and am back to 134 - 135, which is much better.

Still kind of fun when that happens though!

The last time I got on the scale was Monday and it said 117 and I was so happy! I was about 112 before pregnancy and then gained over 40 lbs! I'd like to be about 115 so I'm practically there. And it was an even better feeling to wear a pair of jeans last week that I really didn't think would fit!

@TurtleDoves: lol ! It STILL doesn't make sense to me... Themath. I mean, you lost the physical weight of a baby, placenta, and water. How did we still weigh that much? *shakes head*

@PrincessBaby: I've always sort of gone up/down a little (5-10lbs?) but this is more than before... I'm much, much happier even bigger now, but shocked I could weigh this much! Then again I was shocked at how fast it came off the first time. My metabolism is all screwed up, lol.

@shopaholic: haha me either!
I was UNpleasantly shocked to come home 48h after giving birth to still be up 28lbs. I only gained 30 & my son was 7.8!!! But once the water weight flushed out, I was down 22lbs by the time my son was 6-7days old. Then, I was pleasantly shocked:)

I actually just bought a new scale yesterday because our old one crapped out. I can usually tell when I'm on the upswing of weight so not usually too shocked. Last time I was shocked was a 6 lb weight gain in 2 weeks while pregnant, oh! And after I came home from the hospital! I didn't even lose as much as the baby weighed I think!

That's awesome!! 125-130 is my goal range for after the baby is born.

I guess I haven't been shocked in a good way since becoming pregnant, but I have been happily surprised with my weight gain--I am 27w1d and up 14lbs. I always assumed I would be a huge preggo and everyone would ask me if I was having twins (because I love to eat) but so far all of the comments I've gotten are "you're so tiny!" or "where are you hiding the baby?!" So that has really shocked me (in a good way)!

Good job!

I was shocked at my one week PP checkup because I was back to my prepregnancy weight. I haven't been eating that well since giving birth (no more GD diet) so I'm sure I've gained a little back!

@googly-eyes: I'm glad your PPD is better. That is a pretty damn good reason for the scale going up a bit. I hope you are back to where you want to be very soon:)

I was a few weeks ago because of how much I've gained. :( During pregnancy I gained 26 lbs, went home from the hospital having lost I think it was 18 of those, and was below prepregnancy weight by 6 weeks pp. However I then had severe ppd and wasn't eating, and started meds. After that I started eating too much, and gained a bunch of weight. Now that I'm finally starting to address it, it's starting to go back down, but having been below my prepreg weight before..it sucks!

I hardly ever weigh myself...I just dont think about it. I got on the scale today after some shorts I put on were super baggy and I almost died that I weigh 125! I had no idea! Thanks paleo and breastfeeding! It totally made my tired/no sleep for a week due to tummy-rolling-mayhem self ECSTATIC!

Has the scale made your day lately?

I'll be scared to stop BFing, lol!
