Yes, but I work for a think tank focused on state issues. Usually the candidates will have a website to look at. Or your local paper will do a run down of the candidates. Or your Secretary of State might have a voter guide. Good luck!

my goodness, I feel like I couldn't avoid them if I tried! haha
I'm well aware of who they are and have watched the televised debates on our local news channels. I'm excited and nervous about tomorrow, don't know why I get nervous, haha, but I always do.

@spaniellove: If you're looking for candidates' stances on specific issues, advocacy groups (Planned Parenthood, NRA) usually produce voter guides that cover state rep through national offices. The state parties usually outline their candidates' stances, but that's really only helpful for the 2 major parties.
As far as super-local candidates (school board, township/borough, county), we usually don't have more candidates than we can vote for. If there are, I generally google search the ones I don't know. Disclaimer: I live in a small town so it's pretty simple.. (ex: one of our local school board candidates had several DUIs and truancy convictions. Seriously, she can't get her own kid to go to school and wants to be on the school board?...)

@dagret: Is there a method you'd recommend other than extensive Googling? I tried a database from the local paper that was completely unhelpful and only offered articles that they thought might be related, but at this point I just want to boil it down to their positions on issues and maybe what they plan on doing in office.

I do, but I work at a lobbying firm that specializes in state government. So I personally know more than a few of the local candidates, and they (and the state row offices) actually have an impact on my job. So I've read up on them via advocacy groups that I support and have considered my local newspapers' endorsements.

Maybe it's because I haven't lived in my area too long, but I really don't feel like I know enough about the local candidates for Congress, school board, etc. Do you feel like you know enough about your local candidates? How did you learn about them?
