Usually the candidates will have a website to look at. Or your local paper will do a run down of the candidates. Or your Secretary of State might have a voter guide. The state parties usually outline their candidates' stances, but that's really only helpful for the 2 major parties.<br /> As far as super-local candidates (school board, township/borough, county), we usually don't have more candidates than we can vote for. If there are, I generally google search the ones I don't know. Disclaimer: I live in a small town so it's pretty simple.. (ex: one of our local school board candidates had several DUIs and truancy convictions. So I personally know more than a few of the local candidates, and they (and the state row offices) actually have an impact on my job.
