I financed my undergrad almost entirely on my own. My mom did one small parent loan, and I was fortunate to have a few scholarships and grants, but I still have a LOT of loans to pay off; I feel like I'll be paying it forever.</p> <p>My husband on the the hand only has maybe $3k of loans left (we went to the same school) because his parents took care of everything else. There's no telling what our financial situation will be at that point or what tuition will be like when our kids are ready for school though so it's a bit up in the air. College is non-negotiable and we don't want to financially burden LO with full college costs, especially since those costs can delay other life choices (working in non-profits or other lower salary fields, buying a home, traveling, etc.).
