We go to the same church as my husband's sister and her husband so we see each other every week. His sister and I were both bridesmaids for each other and talk pretty regularly. It was always kind of surface stuff until I got pregnant and she started struggling with fertility. She recently told me how much she appreciates my support and how she feels like I'm the person she can turn to most for support besides her husband. It made me feel really good. </p> <p>My husband and his BIL get along great too. His FI doesn't speak to us, supposedly just because she's shy. He doesn't really make much of an effort with us and she makes zero effort when she's in town. He is my age and we get along. He treats me like an older sister, so we often have chats without FI around about his future and whatnot. He's currently bouncing ideas around about going back to school and feels most comfortable talking to me about it. I feel honored. :-) I dk why, because both FI and myself went to college. I guess since I'm not his immediate family.</p> <p>FI gets along with my siblings really well too. My brothers LOVE him and my sister wants to marry someone "just like him" when she grows up (she's much younger.) He thinks they're all great.</p> <p>I'm lucky I guess. We all just get along. They don't have kids and while they're generally fine with accommodating our new needs, I hate the fact that we're CONSTANTLY having to say "actually, can we change the dinner reservation? 8:30 PM is a little too late for us..." or "We hate to be lame, but we need to go home and feed/water/sleep baby now" or "Actually, we probably shouldn't start playing [some neverending board game] at 11 PM seeing as we'll be up with the baby tomorrow at 6:30 AM, but we'll see you around noon when you all get up."
