This will be my first Christmas with an artificial tree, every other year I've had a real one, but since we live in an apartment, we had no choice.
The last time DH was home was the week before Halloween, and when walking through Zellers we found a display of last years display trees, and we bought one, only 13 dollars! If it lasts a few years, we'll be laughing.

@NODAKADEMIC- That so made me laugh because I sooo understand. We get a real tree and we have 4 cats and they do the same thing. I have litterally found my tree on its side, water from the base on the floor and ornamets everywhere and some broken. Gotten better at getting "durable" ornaments and what not but yes! Hahaha
We will be getting our tree day after Thanksgiving. Place we go to, you take a horse drawn carriage ride whith carolers into the woods. Pick you tree out and ride back. LOVE IT!

Yes! This is our first Christmas in our home instead of an apartment and I can't wait to put up a tree. We have an artificial one that we have been using for the past few years and I'm going to retire it. I might put it up in our bedroom. We're going to get a real tree for the front of the house. I just have to figure out how to keep the cat out of it.

Definitely! I have been hoarding Christmas decorations and am counting down the days until I can put them up! We usually buy a fresh tree, but decided that'd it'd be safer to get an artificial tree since we'll be away the week of Christmas and don't want it to become a dried out fire hazard!

It's a must! We live in the Christmas Tree capital! I started seeing the trucks and hearing helicopters 3 weeks before Halloween.
We've made a tradition to go to a local farm, ride the tractor, pick our tree, they cut it and haul it back and bail it while we wait inside enjoying hot cocoa and cookies. My favorite way to start the Holiday season :)
For my son's first Christmas we got a blue spruce, he was 8 months old and only touched it one. He learned really quick and so did the cats!! A blue spruce is absolutely gorgeous and smells so good, they're spendy and pretty hard to come by.

I love decorating for Christmas, I really can't see going without a tree. Every year, even when I was single I would go out and buy a tree that would barely fit in my house (one year I had to cut a foot off of the bottom to make it fit LOL). Now we have vaulted ceilings, so I can get these massive, beautiful trees!

I definitely want to get a tree this year! We didn't last year because we went on a vacation during Christmas and we figured it would die in our house while we were gone, and kind of be wasted. so I definitely want to get one this year!

And I'm with @Sweetchic and the others - a real tree is best! I just love the smell! PLUS going and picking out a tree every year is soooooo much fun! The only challenge will be getting it home. The year before, our friend went with us with their truck, but I don't know that they'll do it this year. Guess we'll see.

Yes!! This will be our 5th Christmas together as a married couple, and I think we've had a tree every year! I always demand (yes, demand) a real tree, because that's what I always had growing up and it brings back such a sense of sweet nostalgia...

The husband hates the clean-up part (the tree always ends up drying out and then drops bristles EVERYWHERE and the cleanup is massive, haha)... but luckily, he humors my requests.

This tradition will be especially important when we DO have kids!

Day after Thanksgiving! Can't wait. Last year we hauled the tree up the outside of our apartment to the eighth floor window with a rope. The elevator was broken (Albania. Very common.)

Not this year, because we'll be away for three weeks in December. We didn't last year either because I was due on the 10th and had no idea when I would deliver and I didn't know if I'd be able to handle the aftermath of a live tree.

We're redoing the floor in the living room, so we'll get a tree as long as it's finished in time. (Please, God, let it be finished in time. Peeling up 60+year old linoleum off of oak wood floors has been a pain in our butts!)

I love choosing the perfect tree every year and decorating it!

Definitely! We have a fake one I bought from one of my mom's friends a few years ago. We used to buy real trees but, they're so expensive! Our fake tree works just fine and leaves just enough room for the star on top in the family room. :) GAH! I can't wait for Christmas!!!!

@Andrea, I hope you're right but as I'm typing this my daughter has rolled under the coffee table and is chewing on its leg and about 5 minutes ago was half inside my entertainment center pulling everything out, so I highly doubt that a large Christmas tree with brightly colored lights is going to go unnoticed!

Yes!! One of the fun parts of owning a house is being able to decorate the house with Christmas lights and setting up the Christmas tree. We buy our tree from a local boy scout troop around the corner from our house. I love the smell of a fresh tree, and decorating is so much fun. I cannot wait to share that experience with my LO! He might not remember his first Christmas, but we'll have plenty of videos and pictures to share with him.

We have a large, fake tree I plan to put up. The problem is our cats. We got the fake tree because they wouldn't leave the real one alone, but this fake one is even worse. They actually bend the branches, even. I spend the whole christmas season running back and forth through the house and shouting at the cats, clapping my hands, and sweeping up broken ornaments (or hunting down the unbreakable ones they pull off the tree).. Not looking forward to that. But I think we're having company this year, so we have to put it up.

Yeah, Christmas trees are pretty important to us (B planned the proposal around getting our first Christmas tree together). So we'll definitely have at least a little one every year. Even though we don't spend Christmas day at home, I love having the tree up for most of December. Makes the holidays feel more special to me!

Im highly, highly allergic to Christmas trees so I've always had artificial ones since I was 7 years old. When my husband and I were seriously dating we bought a fake one and he proposed while we were decorating our tree so it's an important tradition for us. Definitely will be a (fake) tree in our house.

I'm hoping we at least get a small one. We don't have much room in our flat, but it will be my first Christmas away from my parents so I'm feeling the need to go all out in our new home. I left all my ornaments in a friend's attic in Dallas... maybe I'll get them to ship them.
As a tip, make sure to put some jingle bell ornaments on the low branches of the tree. That way you can hear if Charlie is pulling on them and in danger of knocking it over!
