Not better but not as nervous or anxious. I still yell a lot so when it comes to patience, I'm a terrible parent.

I'd say yes in the sense that I don't allow myself to get so worked up over things & I'm better learning how to tolerate a little whining. I'm working on becoming a more peaceful & less high strung person overall & if anything, that at least makes me feel like a better parent. There will always be new stages & curveballs but I can control how I react to & handle certain situations & sometimes that's all it takes.

As I get more years as a parent under my belt, I feel like I have so many more tricks up my sleeve! Plus now that we're on our second kid, I have a better sense for what is a genuine crisis (i.e. almost nothing) versus what is just the usual shenanigans. A lot of what we worried about with our firstborn turned out to be stuff that's just a phase, and that passes on its own.

That said, there are lots of curveballs that I'm not sure how to handle. For example, our daughter isn't sleeping enough these days for complicated reasons, and I'm not sure how to fix it. And she hasn't really been eating much at all for about 4 or 5 months - ever since we traveled overseas, and since she started a new preschool (she ate great at her old daycare).

Every time I think I have the kids figured out, they morph into someone I don't recognize and we have to figure them out all over again! So overall, I'm not sure if I'm getting better or not as a parent. But I can say for sure that I'm more relaxed about the ups and downs of parenting! Now if only I could get more sleep... these middle of the night wake ups are killing me!
