@bluestriped bee: I have always always always been grouchy if a person wakes me up. But I wake on my own or with an alarm, I'm generally pretty happy. I don't always have an easy time actually opening my eyes & getting up but I'm rarely a grouch (at least not fresh out of bed anyway lol).

DH is a grouch. If you try to talk to him within 20 minutes of waking he just looks at you. No words, no response, just a blank, dead-eyes stare.

I'm the grump. Dh is a morning person, I'm not, so it works out ok- he makes the coffee, brings the baby to me in a clean diaper while I wake up a bit. LO is usually pretty happy.

@IRunForFun: my sister is like that too! Never slapped any of us but she will yell at you, like Yes I know it's time to get up just leave me the f alone! Then you leave her and go back in half an hour and she is sound asleep with no memory of the outburst.

Now we tend to bring babies in to wake her since you can't yell at a baby.

I'm grumpy. I hate waking up. It takes me forever. DH will be a little groggy for a few minutes, but he's not really grumpy. He's a morning person.

@Mae: LOL! That's hilarious about your DH. One of my sisters is like that. She is SO MEAN if you try to wake her up. She once slapped my other sister across the face, hard, before she even realized what she was doing.

I'm not grumpy, but my husband is sometimes groggy - he needs a bit of persuading. M is hit or miss, sometimes she wakes in a great mood and other times she wakes up crying.

Totally depends on how much sleep I got. This morning I was super grumpy, almost to the point of tears. E was up almost every hour all night, and me with him. I pulled myself together by the time I went and got him, though. I just let him cry for a bit while I used the bathroom, brushed my teeth and hair, splashed some water on my face and downed most of my Nalgene bottle.

D is really cranky if he has to wake up earlier than 10:30 (the earliest he works is noon and he often works very late hours). He claims that when I go back to work in a few weeks he'll get up with us at the crack of dawn, and then go back to bed, but I'll be shocked if he does.

E usually wakes up crying, but we no longer have a monitor in his room and he's two closed doors away, and he's my alarm clock at the moment, so he really needs to cry for me to hear him. But it takes a few minutes of holding and talking and kissing him before he's happy. He sometimes wakes up happy from a good nap, though.

I am generally super grumpy. Not so much on weekends if I'm allowed to wake up naturally, but if I'm woken by an alarm (or a pet) my most common response is "f****************k." (Might have to work on that before LO arrives.)

My husband literally bounces out of bed. Alarm goes off and 30 seconds later he hops right up. The most I can hope for is 10 minutes of groaning before I roll myself off the bed and hope I land on my feet.

ETA: this is true only in the mornings. If my husband falls asleep on the couch and I try to wake him up to go to bed he is MEAN. Like irrationally mean. It's like I say "honey you need to get up and go to bed now" and he hears "I just kicked all the pets and I'm going to pour boiling water on your face", I get a very mean growl-type sound and he stomps upstairs and throws himself into bed. lol

We both don't like getting up early but I'm definitely nicer when I wake up. You don't want to wake up the DH too early.

ETA: I just remember, the last time I was probably always grumpy was when my dad used to wake me up for school. Maybe there's something about being woken by someone than waking up yourself.
