Yes, that's exactly how I feel. Much more fulfilled. I feel like my life has more of a purpose now. I wouldn't trade it for anything else in the world. In terms of my relationship with my husband, I'd say it was tough in the beginning (we fought like we had never fought before) but now it's definitely brought us closer together. We marvel at the fact that we created our son together and it's a connection unlike any other.

It's harder and I get less me time but I'm both happier and more fulfilled. Every day my LO does something that makes me amazed. Though there are times that are also frustrating, I'm way more able to let go of the frustrations with my LO then I am with anything else in my life.

@Mrs. Jacks: Ditto. Even though I might have more difficult individual moments, I think overall and long-term I am a much better and happier person. I also think my relationship with my husband is much better and we're much closer than we ever were before we had kids.

@lydg: that is so crazy because having our first (very unexpected) baby has been so great for our marriage. We have never been closer.

I am the happiest I have ever been in my whole life. No matter how sleep deprived or stressed out I am, I still think being a mom has brought out the absolute best in me.

I feel like I might want lots and lots of kids!

I think that life was easier. The responsibility of a child can be overwhelming at times and I know there are times when I wish I just had some good time with DH one on one without worrying about DS but I hate to be without him. I think we have settled into a pretty good routine and really are happier. I think life is more challenging but also much more rewarding. I think DH would agree with me as well. I want another baby at times but I don't want to change how things are right now either. I think it would be a lot harder to have 2 than just having DS, so we want to wait a while.

I just read an article the other day that said marital satisfaction is at its' lowest after the birth of the first child and doesn't return to that point until the last child leaves "the nest." It definitely freaked me out...but I am happy to hear that so many feel more fulfilled by having children!

Baby came as a huge surprise to DH and I. Especially since I liked my life before, I have been having a hard time adjusting to thinking about LO arriving. Don't get me wrong, we are excited and blessed...but the change was just so unexpected.

You pretty much said it all. In general, I'm not "happier" per se, but I feel more fulfilled. I love where I am in life, I love what I've accomplished, and I love my little family.

In the mornings I feel like I am wrangling wild mongeese and sometimes it's really hard, but I would actually say that I'm happier. I am more patient than I've ever been and I'm a better person. I love not feeling the pressure to have to do stuff all the time.

I love our life!

Life's a lot more difficult post baby (can't eat or sleep in peace any more), but I'd say we're happier overall.
Our LO brings us so much joy. :)

I think I am way more fulfilled. The highs are way higher, too. I didn't have too much to think about besides myself before so I'm glad that isn't the case anymore.

ETA - There is nothing like spending time with the DD. Nothing has ever made me happier....so I guess I am happier!

I think you summed it up well. I wouldn't go back in a million years, but days are so much more exhausting and I really miss living life on my terms sometimes. So happier ... probably not. But more fulfilled (personally anyway) yes.

Pretty much every study out there says that people are unhappier after they have kids. I don't know if I'm necessarily happier, but I do feel more fulfilled. Day to day life is hard and I often think about how easy things were pre-kids. But there are moments every single day when I think about how much I love Charlie and Olive, and how I couldn't imagine my life without them.

I think my general day to day level of happiness is probably lower, but the highs are higher and I wouldn't change a thing (except have a housekeeper and chef).

What about you? Are you happier after having kids?
