I think he's great! We never feel rushed and I always leave feeling more educated. He's the type who will break things down and start drawing pictures and diagrams to explain things better. Plus he's super technologically savvy...I can email him and he responds right back! He also has great bedside manner with DD. They diagnosed LO right away with something that we struggled with the old ped for months on. With the old ped it was just getting increasingly rude and ineffective, and I had enough of them.</p> <p>If we get pregnant again unfortunately our current ped doesn't do the infant check at the hospital, but the old one does. I actually went to the trouble of interviewing a few practices while I was pregnant and I am so glad I did. Apparently we're not alone because he's so popular that he stop accepting new patients.</p> <p>He has an amazing bedside manner and he always calls and personally checks on the girls to see how they are doing with the antibiotics (or whatever treatment they needed), even on nights or weekends! Easy to get same day appointments - if not with her than with one of the other docs or nurse practitioner. You can email her with mom emergency questions too. She is knowledgeable but not pushy about anything. I never feel silly or dumb for bringing my boys in. I don't expect her to be an expert on anything but their health. </p> <p>When DS1 was 2 months old, he was coughing with a runny nose. As a 1st time I called the after hours line on the weekend and received a call back saying to use saline and suction. Monday morning I get a call to bring him in. They were reviewing the weekend calls and because of his age, they wanted to see him. He got an RSV test which came back positive. They checked him daily. We have seen a few other doctors in our practice, and they've all been great, but we just clicked with our primary ped and will stay with her going forward when possible. She has young kids herself and seems to have a similar parenting style so it's been nice to get some advice/validation on parenting topics (especially sleep!). She was also really helpful in managing the reflux meds process, as she went through the same process with her younger child. In general she's very laid-back and no-nonsense which we appreciate. We love our main pediatrician, but we've seen others when she has been sick and they were wonderful. When she had her petichia last year, the ER sent us home with a diagnosis of an allergic reaction. But check up with our Dr soon just in case. We went the next morning and we had to be sent in for blood tests and later on to the Children's hospital for ITP. The Dr we saw was like this is textbook and I would rather be safe with getting it checked out than be upset later. So happy we had it checked out. Her count was down to 7. Had we not gone in or anything, it would have been bad. Whenever you visit, they sit and answer any questions you have no matter what. They get us in within an hour if she is sick. LO's pediatrician is very sweet to LO and I like her bedside manner, but I don't think she handled LO's food sensitivities correctly (for months, she made us come in every few weeks with a new stool sample, and she basically forced me to stay on an intense elimination diet for close to a year, even though in hindsight, most of it was probably not even needed). So I feel like my LO's first year was extremely stressful in part due to our pediatricians counsel and constant need for tests. I also dislike her office staff, who can be somewhat rude. He's been so helpful in that area.<br /> It's easy to get appointments. We are switching our primary ped to a new NP we saw for a sick visit who was really nice and very pro BF, which I liked since I was still nursing my then 16 month old. We can almost always get an appt that day if she is sick. </p> <p>I don't care for the nurses who have called me back when I have a question- more often than not they just say to bring her in, which I don't always want to do since it's more exposure to germs, long wait, hard for C. She helped calm my worries by clearly explaining what we were going to keep an eye on and would explain her reasoning thoughtfully when I asked her about different symptoms or tests. For things like breastfeeding or nutrition or sleep she was really good about saying 'they're old enough at this age that they can . . . Some parents choose to ... Others .... But as long as mama and baby are happy and they're not ..... (Losing weight or something) then it's all good'. She was just very good about having informative discussions that were respectful of various parenting styles. I am happy with the fact that it is very easy to make an appointment if she is sick and I like the office staff and the nurses. I also like the nurse line, they always call back very quickly with any concerns we have. Our original pediatrician just left the practice, which was fine with us because we really were starting not to like her. We now see another dr in the practice and she's very nice and does listen to our questions/does a good exam, but she's on maternity leave right now. We saw a different dr for her 1 year check up and she was the WORST. We waited for over an hour, and her 1 year check up was literally done in 10 minutes. She was actually my husband's pediatrician, so she's been around forever. But she also really strives to keep up on the latest and greatest and constantly goes to seminars and such to be sure she's not just relying on her 30+ years of experience. I also really like the practice, in which there are 4 other doctors we can easily see if she's unavailable and we have to get in that day. I think my favorite thing about her is that she's all about parents understanding their child the best and that those parental instincts are super important when it comes to children's health. I think that it's easy for doctors to think they know everything and stop listening.
