this used to be the source of many arguments for us, but since our last one, he has been really good about trying to be neater and tidying up around the apartment. it also helped that we got a cleaning lady, but he has really been helpful for the last few months and i'm really happy about it.

No. He needs to learn to multi-task and is working on it. However, what I hate the most is how long is takes for him to do a project. Case in point, putting up the safety railings for the stairs. I hate having to go through an ordeal each and every time something he says he'll do needs to be done. I'm patient. We had those guard rails from even before my 3rd trimester! DD is 13 months old! I'm fed up with him. I absolutely hate feeling like I'm forcing someone to do something, although to him, I'm not forcing him. I guess he's just used to being pushed into doing stuff, but for me I detest it and I'm beginning to resent him for it. We're working on it, but right now things are still fresh and I'm still angry.

DH could definitely help more. I think my biggest complaint is about the laundry. I have absolutely no problem washing the dirty laundry but probably 75%+ is DH's. It always gets washed and ends up piled high instead of getting folded. It would be a HUGE help if he would fold his clothes and put them away.

Other than that, he really has stepped it up a lot in the last few months. He does a lot more around the house than he used to!

Yes! DH is amazingly supportive, even though he works 12 hour days six days per week. He makes dinner every night, takes care of all the "boy jobs" (I use that term loosely, but taking out the garbage, cleaning outside, and any fix it items are definitely his realm, not mine!), and basically will pitch in with whatever I need his help on. I try to do most of the housework and running of errands since I am a SAHM, but he is very good about recognizing that that is a full time job in itself.

I truly hit the husband jackpot and I tell him this all the time.

Yeah DH is great with chores. He does all the "ick" stuff that I won't do! Cleans up after dinner, does the garbage and compost, mops, does toilets and usually the whole bathroom, often does the grocery shopping.

My DH rocks in this department. I'm a seriously blessed woman. I work longer hours/more days than he does, so there's usually nothing for me to do at home except put away my washed and folded laundry. I owe him a weekend off from cleaning once my 1st trimester tiredness lightens up!

Yes! He's not as adept at the indoor household chores as he is all the outdoor ones, but that's because I did them all myself before the baby. Now he will ask me to show him how to do something once, then he'll take over! It's been a huge help since we had our LO.

I have to say, I am lucky with how much my Hubby helps out. He puts all the laundry away, does the dishes (60%) of the time, does the cat's room, helps with the floors.

Now if only I could get him to do it more often. lol

I do most of the chores, but my job is a lot less physically demanding than his so I think it's pretty fair. He does all the lawn care (except for flowers - that's gladly mine!), cooks dinner 1-2 times a week and does dishes about once per week. I wish he was tidier, but I'm not the tidiest so I can't get too mad. :)

Not really. Well, I am glad he does chores, and I'm really working on not nagging (I.e. being grateful that he emptied the dishwasher when I asked him to and not being upset that things aren't put back in their designated spots). He is a champion cat box scooper though.

Right now he is in his first year of residency....so I consider anything he does around the house to be a bonus. Before I was a SAHM and he was in school, we had a split that felt fair to me. I'm sure that when we are both working out of the home again, we will divide chores again.

I should add that he definitely still helps out...does dishes, helps with laundry and picking up...but he works crazy hours so it seems fair to me that I do most of it for now

Very happy. DH does pretty much all the chores around the house minus laundry because he has an extra day off that I don't.
I just wish he would acknowledge that my contributions (all the cooking including packing our lunches, financial management, and anything that would be considered an "errand") is an equal split.

How happy are you with your SO's household chore contributions... do you wish they would do more? Or less. Just kidding, I'm pretty sure nobody wishes their SO would do less!

Are you happy with your SO's contribution to the household chores? Have you ever tried to get them to do more chores around the house... if so, how did it go?
