No. We bought this house intending to stay here forever and extend as and she we could afford to.... but the more work we did to the house the more the value increased and we can actually afford a much nicer house now.... The next move might not even be the forever home....

We just recently bought a new home, though we don't move in until April. Is it or forever home? Maybe. We're going to live there for 5 years and then decide. While it doesn't have all the "dream home" qualities, it does have a lot going for it like size and location.

That's the plan. But we've stalled on renovations and now I kind of wish we didn't buy a fixer-upper, although I know that would have been impossible since there were so few homes in our (small) neighborhood and we were lucky to buy when we did because we wouldn't have been able to afford the spike in prices after we moved in (and I would have wanted to renovate regardless).

Not even close! We are renting and will move at least 2 or 3 times before we settle down somewhere. Even then "forever" might be only about 15 years.

I am doubtful. It's a fabulous house and in my hometown but there are job shifts coming up in the future which may cause us to move. I'd be happy staying but not so connected that I would be upset about moving. There's a lot of renovation we'd still like to do to this house if it will be permanent.

Nope! And I can't imagine buying a forever home at 30ish. Seems far too long to stay in one house for 50 odd years. Even our next house probably won't be 'forever'.

I don't really know anyone who has lived in one home for decades, or called their home that. We'll move houses again, I'm sure, no idea how many times. I'd love to give up the house and the suburbs, and live in a condo in the middle of the city when DH and I are empty nesters.

Nope, not even remotely. I think we are a long way away from being in our forever home. I see us buying an "in between" house in the next year or so, living there for a while, and then buying again. I see THAT house being our forever home, and the home we eventually retire in.

No. We will need to be out of our 2 bedroom house in under 5 years I reckon. Whether we go on to have a second child or not but especially if we have a 2nd. It already feels maxed out but I love it so much  so that's gonna suck leaving it. I am really quite attached to our suburb so I think I'd like to try to stay here but buy a bigger family home. Only thing is we border the inner city and once you are looking at the 3 bed+ the costs go up exponentially. We would both need to work full time or very close to it.

Yes! We intended it to be and would like it to be. The longer we stay the more antsy I get but I think it will pass and I will settle into this being our forever home. I am too practical to risk changing our original plan.

That's the plan right now. We bought our house last summer and we hope to be here at least until DS grows up. DH wants to buy a 2nd home in FL when we retire and keep this house. I'm not sure I'm on board with that plan, so we'll see what "forever" entails.

Yes, but our forever home is full of problems that need to be addressed and fixed. Right now I'm stressed out and kind of regret buying this house because it's old and in need of so many repairs. We just don't have the time and money to do everything we want to at the moment. DH reminds me that we can work on the house but chose the location and that's not something that can be changed.

Nope. But we're hoping to be this spring!

I bought my house when I was single and got a two bedroom "just in case" I got married and started a family. But since getting married, we've realized just how small the house actually is for us. DH isn't a small person, so it just feels tiny. Plus I long for the day we can have separate bathrooms (boys are gross)

Our current home is pretty darn close to being our forever home; and it very well could be. But if our home plus a few of our "must haves" became available in the part of town we used to live in - we'd totally move in a heartbeat. We absolutely loved the location of our previous home. We just outgrew it.

I hope so! We bought this house knowing we could expand within it and finish areas to make it workable. It is currently a 3 bedroom but our next hope is to finish the attic into a bedroom and eventually a bathroom. We have plenty of house projects to get the house where we want it long term but I love it and am glad we can stay here forever if we want :) (It does help that my dad is a contractor so we have help with house projects and a little cheaper cost there.)

Not even close! We live in a super expensive area, so we are in a 2 bedroom condo. We are going to live here for another year or two, then probably look into moving. But even the next move will not be our "forever" home! I'm not sure I believe in those, though.

Neither of our parents live in the same house now that we grew up in. My husband's parents have moved countries twice since then!
