I was as a young teenager (between 12-16 or so). I would get major stomach cramping and, um, spend a lot of time in the bathroom. :silly: I grew out of it though, I think eating yogurt regularly helped.

Mildly. I'm fine with a moderate amount of cheese, yogurt, or ice cream (not all three in one day though, yikes). But plain old milk makes me very sick and always has. Both my mom and MIL are lactose-intolerant, with worse reactions than me, and J was horribly allergic -like, projectile vomiting from anything even laced with dairy - until 14 months. He can handle some dairy now, but it still does tend to give him runny diapers. And he only drinks chocolate milk, not regular.

@autumnlove: I guess childhood - my mom told me as soon as I self-weaned from EBF at 1, I flat out refused milk. She just gave me juice and water and didn't push it. So I've always avoided it. But I only recognized the correlation between eating a lot of other dairy products and gas/bloating/discomfort within the past few years. Also, I've always had terrible skin, and I'm pretty sure if I cut out dairy it would improve. I've heard that's a common "cure."

I am. I get intense pains in my stomach and I get really bloated and gassy. It also makes me feel exhausted and my skin breaks out.

I can eat certain cheeses, but in moderation. I can never have milk, cream, or ice cream. I was lactose intolerant as a baby and didn't really think of it as a child because I knew I didn't like milk or ice cream. Then as an adult when I started getting lattes it really came out.

Extremely. I can't even have processed/powdered cheeses without getting extreme digestive upset (like Cheezits or Doritos). Lactaid is my best friend. Lol

My dad is. It upsets his stomach terribly if he has anything. He found some pills that help him digest dairy and he's usually ok if he takes those before eating dairy.

I can eat cheese no problem as long as it's not on an empty stomach. Same with ice cream. But if it's the only thing I eat i will suffer a lot. If I have milk or yogurt or soft serve I have severe gastrointestinal distress...like crying from the pain and almost passing out at times...it's about as bad as going into labor for me..the cramping is so bad it leaves me in tears. I'm on the porcelain throne for hours...it's not pretty.

Mildly intolerant. I can eat as much cheese and yogurt as I want, but NO milk or ice cream - Like @Mrs. Oatmeal: said, gastrointestinal distress!! Haha
I will still let myself occasionally have ice cream and suffer the consequences though. It does help with portion control though - I know better than to indulge in more than 1 or 2 scoops!

I was severely lactose intolerant from grade 5...one spoonful of ice cream was 3 hours of stomach cramp/bathroom emergencies. I overcame it, though, during pregnancy!

I don't think so. I know if I don't drink milk for a lil while and drink it again, I'll have to go to the bathroom, but the next day, I'm okay with drinking milk.

Mildly. Cheese and ice cream in moderation I'm fine. Glass of milk I get really bloated and uncomfortable. Then gassy. It's super attractive. It actually seems to be much less sensitive ever since I was pregnant.
