My dad is a general contractor so that mindset keeps him in business plus I think bad DIY jobs can severely impact the quality/durability of your home as well as ruin it's value. I would much rather pay someone to do it right the first time then have to undo a mistake and potentially fix and even bigger problem. That being said...I don't generally have to hire anybody because my dad does all our work and I pay him in grandbaby kisses, cookies, and homecooked lunches.
